You guys have to think about it this is game freaks first huge game like this. They are use to doing handheld games. If we don't buy it they won't improve on my it because they will think no one liked this style of game. Let's just get over this hump and hopefully the next one in this series will be way better.

Good deal for a Nintendo game that just released but agree with others, it's got a lazy plot and pretty below average graphics. I would skip this one if you were on the fence
It's a Pokemon game - they aren't exactly known for their complex storylines.
For what it's worth I'm having fun with the game so far. Sure the graphics aren't the best but it's nice that they've finally decided to shake up the standard formula.
New games are always $50 at Walmart though usually it is in store only. Also this game is a giant turd. I started it last week on My hacked switch.
Right, and the MSRP is still $60. So new games are "always $50 at Walmart" means they're a good deal vs buying from other sources. Not sure why you care either way though since your switch is hacked...
I feel like the graphics are the least of the issues. The extremely lazy writing, even for game freak and the whole main point of the game is mundane end game tasks. Each pokemon needs to be caught like 30 times to complete its entry.
Im a bit away from the pokemon games. My son recently got into the shows and card game a lot. I would like to get him an open world game where he can run around and catch them and battle trainers etc like the original but much better. Any of the games on the switch that do that that are also good?
Comments from here and around the Internet have really turned me off on this game, considering the potential of this game to be absolutely huge. It's so disappointing that Game Freak failed to deliver again.
Which is better in your opinion, Arceus or the Digimon Sleuth Collection game? Sons birthday is in a few weeks. He likes both series. He liked the Shield Pokemon game, but from what I've read this Arceus is a very different game, so I'm not sure.
The Digimon Sleuth series is a turn based RPG style with a lot of story to it. Benefits is you get 2 games that work side by side each other and show the events of what happened while the other was happening. I haven't read too much about the Arceus game but it looks like an open world exploring time. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I think sword and shield or the diamond and pearl remake would fit the bill better. Sword and shield has open areas where you can run around freely. That would be my suggestion but hopefully someone more knowledgeable on other pokemon games can offer advice.

It's actually quite pathetic that they don't reconsider the elements of their contract that gives them developmental control of the mainline series. They have plenty of money but they are choosing job security over the advancement of their intellectual property.
It's easy for us to sit here and critique them but the reality is they are just as greedy as any other game developer.

Look at all these Pokemon snobs gathered here at SD. All reviews I've viewed on YT are positive, and people in the comment section are positive too. It's also the best reviewed Pokemon game in quite a while, with 86 currently on Metacritic. I don't know what you guys expected the game to be, but most people who have experienced it say it's good (certainly the best of the Switch Pokemon games).
