They don't have a shelf life of 10-25 years though.

According to the directions, it takes 30 cups of water to rehydrate the full can. That's 15 lbs more weight once it's rehydrated.

To be fair, I can't find frozen potatoes in my grocers freezer section so maybe I'll be needing this sooner than later lol

3 lb mashed taters are a total of 880 calories for 15 bucks and 1.7lb tater shreds a total of 2200 calories for 8.14? That can't be right.
Edit: Never mind it shows below its actually 45 servings not 8.

I think the point of these items is shelf life. They are normally marketed as a survival pantry item. The reviews show they are well liked for everyday use too though, if a bit pricier than your regular supermarket instant potatoes.

I'm in for 2 Shreds & 1 Mash potatoes.
Seems good to have on demand instead of buying a bunch of fresh/frozen potatoes that go bad (spudding or freezer burn) before I can use them all. I don't eat them often enough to keep fresh on hand. However, when I want them, I want them.
The plus+ is the long term storage option.
Thanks OP!

Sulfites are a preservative many people are sensitive to that can severely aggravate asthma. Their use on fresh fruits and vegetables is banned in the United States, but sulfites are present in other foods. (Avoid products listing sulfur dioxide, potassium bisulfite, sodium bisulfite or sodium sulfite on the label.)
