You will need to have UniFi software/hardware to configure this AP. And it is power by PoE so you need to have PoE Ethernet port available that can connect to this AP or has PoE injector, etc.

If you don't have (don't want) UniFi setup (or don't have PoE switch, etc), you may want to get other AP instead.
There is no hub for this. This is purely an access point. You can use this with any router or switch but if you use it with other unifi devices, there will be more integration and management.
The lite versions are the better deal. Getting this one is useless where it has a 1gb port and isnt wifi 6e.

I am really frustrated with this setup. Very slow speeds like 25MB up and down on a 1 GB connection. Any recommendations for the setup? or a recommended setup guide?

Been running AC-Pro's for well over 6 years now in 3700 sq ft. I have one upstairs and one downstairs. May be overkill but I have not had any issues. Any issues I have had are from devices connected to the system.

For instance, I have an outdoor plug that won't connect in a certain area but will in another? An indoor plug in the same area outdoors where the outdoor plug didn't work, works just fine. It's the device/antenna inside the device. That's what you get when you have lots of cheap HomeKit choices (or cheap choices in general).

Get the pros.
Got it. Thanks! Pay a little more upfront for less headaches down the road.

Not at all, the pro has WiFi 6 on 2.4GHz, and higher power output. It's also using the Qualcomm radio over Mediatek of the Lite. I get 900Mbps down with the pro.
I get 900 on the lite too.. with a samsung galaxy s21 ultra.

That has nothing to do with my post, the lite doesn't have WiFi 6 on 2.4GHz and has a lower power output, so it has less range than the pro

Thanks for that info, very helpful. Do you have any favorite tools for determining where to position the AP based on signal strength? I have some tricky walls I am dealing with and not sure how to position the AP best for coverage.
On Android, I've used "wifi analyzer" by farproc for yearssss. https://play.google.com/store/app...i.analyzer

There's also another wifi analyzer that is open source and has tidier permissions but I find the farproc one easier due to the layout.

The Pros (UAP-AC-PRO and now U6-Pro) aren't actually that expensive unless you change your hardware a lot. We've had Uap-ac-pro units at various sites for years that never need attention and get a ton of public usage. They are worth the $135 (or whatever at the time) without question.
If the U6-Pro is half as good as those older uap-ac-pro units, that will be a win for Ubiquiti's system. Now that the original UAPs are finally EOL in the latest controllers, we're going to switch some of them to U6 units (either Lites or Pros depending on their placement).

I'm going to use 2x nanostation 5ac locos to bridge to an outbuilding, does it make more sense to use one of these over an ASUS ac86u in AP mode at the outbuilding?

FyI nano stations are not part of the unifi family. They have a different controller software and will show as a transparent layer2 bridge on the unifi controllers device map.

I hope this changes in the future that they blend there lines together.

I think the LR is better than the pro. They have similar specs, but the LR has bigger antennas. I get 800Mbps on the LR, my lite gets horrible speeds at around 200-300Mbps.

Ya but the LR is massive when compared to the Pro. I have one and in my living room it just looks out of place up on the ceiling.

damnnn late to the game here. off topic but you all think this will be enough for the house:

This is what I'm buying for the new home:
1) UMD Pro
2) 2 Wifi 6 Pros (one on each floor mounted in ceiling in middle of house)
3) Switch Lite 16 POE
4) Access Point Flex HD

That should cover my 5000 sqft home.

If you have NAS that can read/write speed faster than GbE (ex. Samsung SSD 870 EVO has top 3,372MBps read speed ) or you have very high speed Fiber internet, may want to get 2.5GbE (or higher) switch to future proof yourself?
