I do not recommend these for people with crowns. I usually use the GUM® Professional Clean Flossers that look like a U with floss between and those work a lot better.
I saw these on sale at one point and wanted to give them a shot to see how they compared. One day I felt something feel a bit wrong as I tried to floss between my crown and another tooth. I figured something happened to my crown. Went to my dentist who looked and tried to take the crown off and said nothing seems wrong. Another 2 days later, I was sitting in his chair getting my crown recemented in place.
I'm guessing the stick put enough pressure at the right angle to lift the crown enough for it to dislodge. Haven't had a similar issue with the GUM Professional Flossers after many years.
**Edit: It took about 3 days when I started using these for the crown to pop off**

These are only good as long as you can secure them firmly with your fingers, there is a danger of this falling inside your mouth and possibly choking or swallowing.
I find attaching a string that is anchored to a 50lb weight helps me from ingesting a rouge pick.

as long as you can guarantee the alignment as this massive pick starts its descent down your throat...no 50lb won't work neither will 200lb - did you check the warning on the label?
Damn, I literally just bought the 150 pack for just over $8, first time I've ever bought something like these as I've recently read that they're more effective and recommended than floss. I've been trying to improve my dental hygiene routine and also recently bought a cordless water flosser. I don't mind flossing but I've long suspected that it's not very effective unless you're really meticulous, and who has that kind of patience just before bed?
I also bought a bunch of these other kind of dental picks, to see which one I prefer, just over $5 for 275:
