Benchmarks against the similar 11th gen i5 deal with keyboard that has been popping up for $799/$829. Also the i3 is dual core where the i5 is quad core. I don't have a strong opinion on whether the i5 is better for $200 or so more. Part of me says if you are aren't getting 16GB RAM then you might as well get the i3 because the relative life of the computer is less right from the get go.

I think for me the intended use of a surface is more about getting the most efficient chip as I want max battery life so this fit the bill. I am still kicking myself because there was an HP Envy 13.3 Intel EVO laptop for 699 in costco the other day and I walked past it and took a pic for a later purchase and it was about 300 cheaper than what it would have been in best buy or even what they had on their own website. It had 16gb RAM and 1TB nVME for 699.99 with an 11th Gen i7... lesson learned I guess.

My main goal was something that would fit in a smaller backpack footprint for when I play TTRPG's or want to travel light and this fit the bill for that. Still wish I would have pulled the trigger on the Envy when I saw it though.

This is is i3, but it is 11th gen cpu vs the 10th gen i5 you have. Better battery life in this one. Also SSD is upgradable in this, on yours you would be restricted to 128GB.

It depends on your usage. The one you have would probably have slightly better performance, this one has better battery life and upgradable ssd.

I bought the BestBuy deal that I linked to when it was $799 but ultimately returned because I was able to snag the SP8 in i5/8/256 in the Black/Graphite color with keyboard for $999 over the Holidays.

Since you can't recreate the Envy deal, I think you will be happy with the SP7+ with Micro SD slot.

Also, this is $840 right now if you have to the discounted login: https://slickdeals.net/f/15588487-hp-envy-x360-13-ay1035nr-2-in-1-laptop-13-3-fhd-400-nits-ips-touch-ryzen-7-5800u-16gb-ddr4-512gb-pcie-ssd-win11h-899-99-f-s?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

Thanks for breaking this down. I'll stick with my SP7 since performance is my #1 (mostly editing and some light vfx)

We bought one and I liked it at first. As we continued to use it, it would overheat and lock up. Unfortunately had to return it.

Surface Pro X is the only way to go ARM, and it isn't doing very well - good battery life, but inconsistent performance. Porting Windows and x86 compatibility over to another architecture ruins it.

According to a reviewer:
Quote :
DOES NOT INCLUDE PEN OR MOUSE
Because the pictures included the pen and mouse I assumed they would be included. I contacted Walmart support to be sure and they said they would be included. However, when I received the bundle it includes only the Surface Pro and keyboard.

I just don't see 8gb for Windows being a viable option anymore.
