Clear sounding Apple earbuds? I guess cavemen in the 80s thought VHS tape looked pretty good on screen.

Lol, as a non audiophile I thought for a moment you were gonna compare it to some other audiophile headphones. These sound a lot better than airpods and the b50 has insane bass, although there might be better audiophile headphones at this price.

Why would I buy a pair of earbuds for $230 when a pair of clear sounding apple earpods only cost like $180?

The B30 and B50 are audiophile grade IEMs which take MMCX connection. It will sound better than mainstream options such as Airpod Pro, Sony WF-1000, etc with the included bluetooth cable, but if you use a wired MMCX cable and a good source, you can take the sound to the next level.

I'm no professional. I'm just trying to figure out what makes these worth so much.

There are five micro-speakers (drivers) comprising each earbud

No worries! I do believe these sound quite good, wider soundstage, etc. Airpods generally get the job done, is really impressive technologically (anc, quick pairing, etc) but sound quality is just decent.

The sony wf-1000xm4, samsung galaxy buds pro, and even the airpod pros are audiophile grade as well. Dont know why you would say the b30 and b50 would sound better with the bluetooth cable. Lots of positive reviews by IEM enthusiasts, check out crinicals reviews and ranking for them
Because I have airpod pro, wf1000xm4, and westone's previous flagship ES60. ES60 is so much better, it's not even comparable. Bluetooth audio is not there yet to compete against a good wired setup. This deal is appealing because you have both options. I would buy it because it's a good set of wired iems not for its Bluetooth functions. I'd stick with your airpods and Sony for wireless. They are pretty good for Bluetooth.

Putting wired connections aside, would the Sony and the Airpods sound better in bluetooth mode?

crinacle doesn't seem to enjoy Westone IEMs much.

I own the B30 headphones. I use them 50 hours a week or more. I've had them for about a year and a half. Just a couple weeks ago they started to short out. I am happy with them and would consider buying more if Slickdeals hadn't already filled my closet with various headphones over the last year. However, they aren't true wireless. They are connected via a cord (which is what is now shorting out on mine). The sound quality is good but not great, as compared with the Jabra's I had used before these. A couple times a week the headphones would randomly disconnected and I would have to restart both the headphones and my iPhone to reconnect. Turned all the way up, I usually get 5-6 hours of play time before needing a charge.

I've been eyeballing the fiio utws5.. I imagine that would fix your cord problem as well.
