In for 1. I have a older full size Craftsman router with routing table taking up a bunch of space. I only use it for edge work, making detailed edges on a coat rack or rounding the edges for a project around the house. It's overkill, takes up a lot of space, and is a pain to setup. This should work perfect for those little projects.

Only wish these would show up on the "Buy 2 battery, get a tool free" promos but I never see them. Hence just buying this one.

Yeah, when I ordered from toolup there were 15 left. Maybe they sold them all.

Missed this one. Appears dead now, as noted. Been looking for a deal on this router, will keep watching.

I did Toolup at $135.

Should be a handy addition to the 20V tool lineup.

I don't understand why a corded version of this tool wouldn't be preferred. Am I off my rocker?

Maybe for small jobs or quick field work it makes sense where stringing out an extension cord just adds disproportionate time.

Definitely not in a shop. You have outlets and the job is in front of you the whole time. Plus you can run full size, maybe with plunge attachment, and also compact routers that may all share the same accessories.

I think I figured it out. Any thoughts?

I'm not a fan of the cord getting in the way. Same reason I have a cordless circular saw. Plus these are trim routers, mainly for smaller jobs. If you have a larger job or need more power, get a proper plunge router.

I have a full sized bosch plunge router, and this dewalt, and I reach for this dewalt router 99% of the time. I only do minor trim work and build speaker boxes, small cabinets, and the dewalt is perfect for my amateur DIY work. It's so convenient to use, from not dealing with the cords to switching out the different router bits.

Good to drill out lowers?
Absolutely as there is no cord to get tangle. It has electronic brake which stops the bit immediately lessening the chance of gouging the side while removing the tool. If you do shallow passes then one 4Ah battery can almost finish one receiver 6061 type aluminum; 7075 type takes a bit longer but not much. This is based on using the router with the 5D jig.

I just had this conversation with my shop guys about how I'd never imagined that a cordless router would be so useful. We use it for anything that we can, that doesn't require a larger, more powerful motor. It's great for edging and profiling. No cord, quick motor break so you can set it down as soon as you're done. We use it all the time. I wouldn't buy it as my first router, but it would absolutely be my second.

This is a good deal. The Home Depot hack is the only way I have seen to get it cheaper. I have owned this for awhile now and use it more than my full size router. If I could only have one router though I would go 2 HP or more with half inch collet.

Does the corded one ever go on sale? Been wanting to buy DW618B3 [amazon.com] but no luck on a discount yet. Camelcamelcamel shows it was down to $195 at one point on Amazon.

I'm working on a room that is essentially on the third floor and the shop is on the first floor. Needless to say, having to go up and down two full flights of stairs to simply re-route something that may be a bit off is a hassle.
