I bought an open box 65" Sony A8F OLED from BuyDig a couple years ago. Zero flaws or burn-in and it's been performing flawlessly. It was double boxed for shipping as well.

What doesn't CPS's TV extended warranty cover?
This warranty does not cover any kind of damage to the TV, the cost of removal or reinstallation, or burn in on the television screen. Stolen TVs are also not covered.

I found that on thier website but it's contradictory to what's shown on the box on the Buydig website...

EDIT: found it. burn in is covered-

https://www.buydig.com/shop/produ...r-1500-ACC

Features

Accidental Damage coverage
Warranty covers the purchased product against defects in material or workmanship for 4 years starting 30 days after purchase
Impact Damage
Dropping while moving or mounting the TV
From kids playing ball in the house
Burn in covered - usually not covered by the OEM
Remote Control replacement - hot swap, no question asked
Tech Support Included - initial product setup and/or configuration
Authorized service dispatched by Consumer Priority Service

Since this model number include the "CJ" - that probably means these are Costco returns from last fall when they had the $1799 deal for this model TV. Costco has a generous return policy so it is feasible some were returned for reasons not related to faulty performance (like return/rebuy if would not price match, decided to buy from another store as many retailers offer the $1799 price last October, or opted to return the 65" and get the 77" instead as the 77 went on sale at Costco around Black Friday).
There was a similar slick deal a few weeks ago from Secondipity that also had the "CJ" model, so perhaps Costco had an influx of returns to liquidate - they do not typically re-sell returns as open box in store

With that being said, this "refurb" status might have a better chance of being almost like new condition as opposed to other refurb sales on sites like Woot that are more "scratch and dent" of a previous year's model - and thus more of a shot in the dark on what condition you might get if you pull the trigger.

This is better than the LG A1 65" that is the same price at Costco right now. Yes, you go not get the Costco extended warranty you would get if you have the Costco Visa. But that warranty does not cover burn in and still requires you to go through a 3rd party to make a claim (can't just bring it back to Costco if in year 2 something malfunctions).

Anyone know if this is eligible to receive the 10 free movie credits through Sony Bravia Core service - https://electronics.sony.com/bravia-core ?

I'm going to call up Sony customer support and see what they say. From some Googling, Sony has replaced OLED TVs (that have this issue) with the same or better model. Don't see the harm in at least trying, worst they say is no. I'll report back.
Oh yeah, I would definitely say "try" just don't bank on it. I mean if it works then definitely report back as it could help a lot of us. I'm just weary since a lot of these "manufacturer refurbished" TVs were shipped with varying defects so it seems fishy. Mine was delivered to the local Dollar Store, since I work and I am never home for deliveries so I'm picking it up tonight. Hopefully I get a good unit but if not, I would love to hear about your experience Smilie

FedEx delivered mine about an hour ago. I climbed into the truck and the driver said if I open it, she can't refuse delivery. Some of the tape had separated at the top and I could see the Styrofoam packaging. I was this close to refusing delivery based on recent reports but decided to roll the dice. She and I put it on a dolly and brought it in the front door. I unboxed it and screen is clean. Still has energy consumption sticker on it. I set up Google and agreed to the Sony privacy prompts. I'm waiting on my installer to come this evening for wall mount but just wanted to share this one was good. Any idea how to check the hours on the set?

Received my order today as well. I helped the driver pull the box from the truck. There was no way she would have been able to do it on her own, and even said she was thankful I was there.

It came in a brown box, with no markings, but inside was the original box though with some dings covered up by some black tape, which made me worried. Unboxed it, and the TV looks pristine. Also with the energy consumption sticker still attached. Plugged it in and no issues thus far. Runtime is at 1 hour 36 minutes. I'd estimate about 30 of those minutes being my time. Fingers crossed. So far so good.

Nice man and congratulations 😁 these success stories are giving me hope! A Sony OLED TV has been a bucket list item for me for the last five years or so.

Trust me, I am so thankful. Just getting it out of the box wasn't easy so I was dreading something being wrong with the actual TV. Strange that the other poster had a box within the box. Mine was the TV covered up with cellophane and then the large and medium sized Styrofoam blocks on all corners and the middle. Sounds like this is all over the place! The warranty card was at the bottom of the box and is about credit card sized. Don't forget to grab it!

Just received mine, checked everything and a minor scratch on the top left corner, nothing crazy. Panel looks great, much better than the Vizio oled I had. Crossing fingers nothing else crazy comes up, only 30 min uptime, mostly from me messing around with it!

I just want to thank posters for posting about their negative and positive experiences here on SD. Lots of people tend to just post the negative and focus on it and you never hear back from the success stories. So thanks again, it's really what makes this community so great.

Got mine. Same story about packaging. TV looks good overall. 13 mins run time total.

However, it's literally bent. Both on the vertical side and long the horizontal. Pretty significant bend to the screen frame itself. Dang.

Got mine, mine came in the factory box and had another box around it. Fed Ex guy was about worthless but at least was nice and said call them if any issues. Going into the service menu (power off, display, 5, volume +, power on with remote) it shows 308hrs on the panel, not terrible. Screen seemed very clean, QR codes on the back had been marked so wondering if it was at least inspected. Seems to be working fine so far.

I picked mine up and same exact situation. Box within a box screen was dirty but had energy star sticker. Item is in near perfect condition and I got my warranty card. Also I was able to redeem for two free years of Sony platform streaming and 10 Bravia credits for free movies so basically took the serial number of the TV and have them to me. I don't think this would happen with a used item but I could be wrong.

My uptime was 45:13. Is that only 45 mins? I was using it for 30 minutes setting it up so this thing is virtually new I think.

How did you get the streaming and the credits?

The uptime is only for how long the internet connection has been up. You have to access the service menu (power off, the in this order hit the display button, the number 5 button, and then the volume up button and then the power button to turn the TV on). Then go to service diagnostics and the bottom left number is your total hours runtime.

Unsure if mine was reset or is just a new unit but my runtime was 0002 hours and I had it on for about an hour or two so it may have been near zero

Thirdly, my only issue with my screen is I have some dirty screen effect on 25% gray. I am going to do it tomorrow but I recommend anyone with the DSE on their TV to do a pixel refresh which will take an hour or so.

for the Bravia credits I signed into my Gmail, downloaded the Bravia Core app, updated my TV to the latest update because it wouldn't work before then, created a Bravia Core account and then it was all good for streaming and credits auto added
