A corded angle grinder would be much more economical for my very infrequent use, but I have to admit it does scare me a little. This cut off tool may be a compromise, but the limited cutting depth gives me pause

Go buy a $15 harbor freight grinder and a flap disk and it will grind right down to flush.
People say this thing is more precise and I'm sure it is but I've never had a problem being precise with a grinder. You just have to learn what they can and cannot do.

Extend the blade as far as possible and the end will be flexible, allowing you to cut that pin off perfectly flush with the concrete. And it really won't take long at all to get through 1/4".
Had to pay an additional $9 for "scheduled delivery" shipping to home, but still a good deal. It will be here later today.
For what it's worth, I used store #2204 as my location. But, you may not need to do that.
There was a note under "How to get it" that said 4 were available for shipping to my zip code (78745) - so that's why I added it to cart - just to see what would happen.
Seems like if your local HD warehouse or stores have them in stock, you may be able to go this route. I think the "scheduled delivery" is almost like a special delivery from the local warehouse/store.
