Honestly this tool is pretty useless, it's not fit for things you would use a grinder for and anything it's remotely good at just takes way too long and it's very underpowered. The only redeeming thing about this tool is the option to reverse the rotation of the blade. Other than that I'd take a hack saw, jig saw or a $15 HF grinder over this.

I have this tool and it's amazing, especially for a homeowner, enough power to cut anything a DIYer might want.
It come with 1 metal cut off wheel, 1 carbide abrasive blade, 1 diamond tile blade

If you need a wood blade, the following blade fits perfectly

Don't buy this if you don't know for sure where to use it. I'm a big Milwaukee fan, I own so many tools from Milwaukee, and this one is on the top of my regret list, and I'm stuck with it. I have a M18 fuel grinder, a lot more powerful and useful than this little weak thing.

Yeah I've basically a full metal shop out in the garage and this just doesn't make sense for my type of work.
As a metal shop I'm sure you wouldn't. I wasn't implying this would be for someone with metal work. Just what I've used mines for

Wanting to avoid a regrettable purchase myself, if I already have an OMT, do I really need an angle grinder?

I have one of these and find it very handy. I've cut through 1/8" steel, various heavy plastics, bolts, etc. I've also used to quickly cut down large heavy cardboard boxes. It has a great form factor, comfortable to hold, high rpm. With a decent sized battery this is a good deal at $120.

It also comes with a removable dust shoe that has a depth adjustment and vacuum attachment.
Two things that come to mind that I've used my harbor freight angle grinder would be to cutoff bolts or a deadbolt lock… would this have enough power for those applications

Maybe. I have an OMT and just failed utterly trying to flush cut a steel pin that was setting my stairs into the concrete floor. I'm considering this or an angle grinder to get this done.

You won't really be able to get a flush cut with this type of tool, your better off with a Dremel cutting from the inside out. if the pipe is close enough to the surface already, Just grab an 80 grit flap disk and a grinder and go to town.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's not a pipe, but a steel pin about a quarter inch thick. It shrugged off the titanium blade on my OMT, so I'm suspecting a Dremel won't get the job done either. It doesn't have to be perfectly flush, I just don't want that pin to catch on things I pull in and out of under the stairs.

A corded angle grinder would be much more economical for my very infrequent use, but I have to admit it does scare me a little. This cut off tool may be a compromise, but the limited cutting depth gives me pause

It can't take any pressure as soon as you put a decent load on it the safety shuts it down.
Thank you.

The thing is you should be afraid of a grinder they can hurt you. That said leave the guard and handle on and you will be fine, things start getting sketchy when you pull the guard off but sometimes it's necessary.

Go buy a $15 harbor freight grinder and a flap disk and it will grind right down to flush.

People say this thing is more precise and I'm sure it is but I've never had a problem being precise with a grinder. You just have to learn what they can and cannot do.

If you're not afraid of a little work, skip the power tools and get a mini hacksaw.

Something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/HART-M.../970484881

Extend the blade as far as possible and the end will be flexible, allowing you to cut that pin off perfectly flush with the concrete. And it really won't take long at all to get through 1/4".

Just a heads up... this showed up as $199 - until I put it in my cart. That's when the price went to $119.

Had to pay an additional $9 for "scheduled delivery" shipping to home, but still a good deal. It will be here later today.

For what it's worth, I used store #2204 as my location. But, you may not need to do that.

There was a note under "How to get it" that said 4 were available for shipping to my zip code (78745) - so that's why I added it to cart - just to see what would happen.

Seems like if your local HD warehouse or stores have them in stock, you may be able to go this route. I think the "scheduled delivery" is almost like a special delivery from the local warehouse/store.

Yeah I'm hoping a healthy respect for the tool and not being an idiot will be enough not to do damage.

I'm holding out for another turn of the Metabo HPT grinder $30 deal at Lowes. I'm in no hurry! Thanks again
