$50 fee when you close the IRA…..
no one should so anything more than open a cash mgmt account to qualify for this deal. if you have other big plans with fidelity, fine go ahead but don't complicate this deal by trying to do something fancy that you aren't quite sure will qualify. just open the cash acct, get your $50, then figure out how to do everything else you want to do with your financial future. too many people trying to get creative last time and either didn't get the bonus or had to call it in. self-inflicted dealing with fees, transfers, etc...way too easy just to do the basics. this comment is meant to help those who like to torture themselves when it comes to getting free money.

I just opened an HSA with Fidelity. Suppose there's no way I can qualify for this.

What's the difference between the both?

The Fidelity Account
Fidelity Cash Management Account

fidelity account is more for investments and the fidelity cash account is more like a bank checking account

For everyone that don't see where to enter the code, if you are already a member with fidelity and they fill in some information automatically, there is a spot where they put the code in for you. I saw it just before moving on to the next page.
THIS.
It was automatic for me.
I saw the field with the promo code already filled in.

Can the cash management account be used to invest in EFTs and mutual funds besides buying shares?

Everyone complaining that you didn't get the promo - I would hope that deal hunters would know this by now, but anytime you want any sort of cash back, deal, coupon, or whatever, you have to disable ad blockers, tracking protection, etc. This includes if you have enabled the aggressive tracking protection that is built into Chrome. I've even found that the default level in the latest versions of Chrome can interfere so I now usually use Edge for anything that relies on cookies or a special referrer link. Do not use incognito/private mode either.

Plenty of people, myself included, have gotten this offer. It is not a scam and was very easy as long as you know how to follow instructions.

If you plan to move a large amount of funds or securities, look at the other offers that are out there. Last year I got $3500 from Etrade (which turned out to be awful, avoid them), then Schwab gave me $2500. Very often brokers will match each others' offers. So basically do this one with just the $50 to get the $100. Then if you want to transfer a bunch in, ask them if they will give you an incentive for doing so. If not, check out other brokers.

To those asking about Vanguard, avoid them like the plague. The ONLY thing you should ever put in Vanguard are Vanguard funds that you really want to own and can't get anywhere else. Even then, it may well be worth the fee that another broker charges to buy a Vanguard fund (some brokers, like Schwab, will waive the fees if you have a minimum balance with them). Vanguard is not a real broker and their customer service died with Jack Bogle. Etrade is just as bad, if not worse.

I've had Fidelity accounts for 20+ years and I'd consider them the best of all the brokers/401k/IRA/HSA/etc that I've had. So far Schwab has been good too (I won't put everything in one broker), but I like Fidelity's interface a lot more. There are a couple things they could improve but there isn't anyone you can't say that about.

Like a few others here I didn't get the $100 from when this last popped up in October. I followed all the instructions meticulously yet, despite adding $100 to the new account funded from an external checking account, no sign of the $100 reward. I suppose I could call but at this point I'm over it.

While I'm here, anyone suggest Fidelity IRA over Vanguard? Been a customer of vanguard for years bc of a previous employer 401k. Not attached and happy to move everything based on options & fees
Vanguard is going through a lot of technology growing pains now. You might want to try Fidelity just to see how they compare.

Tbh, you really should call, happened to my a friend of mine and a 5 minute call resolved everything. You've already gone this far, including making a post about it here. 5 more minutes is nothing.

It isn't a scam. Works fine for tens of thousands of other people. A 5 minute phone call or secure message should take care of it. Though not even sure this offer was around 6 months ago?

I did this in November and got the bonus 3 weeks later.

The $100 is listed as "Miscellaneous Income" under Taxable Income for 2021, but I have not received, nor do I see a pending tax form.

I have most of my accounts through Fidelity (401k, Trad, Roth, Brokerage, HSA), so I'm wondering why there isn't a tax form for it.
I believe there is a threshold of like $600 where they do not have to report if you are below it (for account incentives or fee credits etc). But wait until end of feb to be sure.
