I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than two meters.
It's been this price fairly consistently at Walmart and Amazon for many months. It's a good deal, but not new.

20% is as good as it gets for a normal sale price on Lego. Also, this set per size and it being Star Wars also is very nice. With that said... Slave 1 is still on sale for the same exact price on Amazon..

If I had to pick between Slave 1 (Boba Fetts Starship 75312 is official horrible name) or this, I would 100% go for Slave 1. Slave 1 is one of the few ships thats extremely iconic, has color and its color is nice. It has very few stickers to put on, they're easy. Really fun build with nice minifigs and excellent price per brick ratio given that its Star Wars.

Now, if you can guarantee to get yourself Slave 1 later or don't want it, I would get this.. it's a great size for the price and clearly affordable but if you are on the fence, its a no brainer - Slave 1 but this X-Wing will almost certainly retire a lot sooner than Slave 1.

As a longtime admirer of LEGO sets, I would recommend getting this while you can. Yes, it has been and will again be 20% off, but LEGO sets retire and people sell them for twice their MSRP or more once they do. The last Original Trilogy X-Wing set was 2018 and the one before that was 2012. (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.) Get this now or wait a few to several years when inflation and pricing creep up on us or find yourself saying, "Damn... should've gotten that $50 one when it was 20% off..."

People have caught on to the Lego investment craze and there are now hoarders of unopened sets. A direct result of this is that prices aren't going to increase like they used to. The market will remain flooded for several years after they retire with hoarders flooding the market of retired sets. Some people have ZERO business sense and will kill a market value in order to make a 5% profit on money they tied up for 3yrs.

With that being said if you pay 40.00 for this set, you may sell it 2-4yrs after retirement for around 75-80.00, less fees which generally will be 12% overall via fleabay.

Now if you can sit on it for 5yrs+ then you should start seeing some true returns from a investment point of view.

Your higher dollar sets, limited and exclusive ones will show the biggest returns due to people not having money to invest into hoarding those.

A good example of this is the orange Poe's X-wing and the red Y-wing. Overhoarded up the yin yang.
