Based on warranty alone, I would go with IKEA:

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/samf...-70462064/

The Ikea Samfaelld series is EXACTLY THE SAME COOKTOP as Fridgidaire for $950. Ikea moved from Whirlpool to Frigidaire a few years ago. Look at the controls on the Ikea buttons for adjusting heat. Ikea is exactly like the Frigidaire without big circles and labels.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Home Depot, Best Buy, and Lowes is 1 Year Warranty.

IKEA is 5 Year Warranty

Amazon (sold by Cybersavings) has the 30" one for $799 and the 36" one for $880.
https://amazon.com/gp/product/B07CMCVKPD [amazon.com]

There is a used 30" one from Amazon Warehouse for $705.

I had the 30" one for a couple of years and it worked well. The biggest complaint I had was that due to the configuration of the big burner in the middle, if you have a big pan (12") in the middle, you can't fit another pan on the side burners without it being very off center.

We also had a chip at the corner even though we don't remember dropping anything hard on it. So the glass is a bit weak.

The power boil mode on the Frigidaire is incredibly powerful. The cooktop broke during a kitchen remodel and we replaced it with a a GE induction cooktop [bestbuy.com] that's twice the price. The performance of the GE is not any better than the Frigidaire. Boiling water on the Frigdiaire is actually noticeably faster. We were just sick of the off center issue of the Frigidaire.

Just to clear up any confusion in the difference between models (the Gallery is slightly upgraded), here are the specs. (also, to make for more confusion, the Ikea models seem to be the same. I don't know if they use the exact same internal parts. But I would guess that most of the internals are identical, or close to it.)

The 30" uses 2 generators (1 generator for 2 hobs)

30" Frigidaire

6" - 1,450/2,000 watts
6" - 1,450/2,000
7" - 1,800/2,600
10" - 2,500/3,800

30" Gallery

6" - 1,450/2,000 watts
7" - 1,800/2,600
7" - 1,800/2,600
10" - 2,500/3,800

The 36" frigidaire uses 3 generators (1 for the center hob, 1 for the left 2 hobs, 1 for the right 2 hobs (I believe that's the order)

36" frigidaire

6" - 1,450/2,000 watts
6" - 1,450/2,000
8" - 2,300/3,200
8" - 2,300/3,200
10" - 2,500/3,800

36" gallery

7" - 1,800/2,600 watts
7" - 1,800/2,600
8" - 2,300/3,200
8" - 2,300/3,200
10" - 2,500/3,800

This actually looks good. I've been waiting for an induction cooktop, but the prices are outlandish. This price is half of the others at the big boxes. Very tempted. I wonder if these will drop further within the year. Anyone?

I've been watching the price on these, and this is the lowest it's been. Given that they are MAP priced ... I suspect not. Usually when they change out the lines, you can find clearance deals too but it will be highly YMMV

Agreed on the usual prices. you can find a standalone single burner for less than $50 regularly. But the moment you want built in... good luck

Good price if you need it! Our 9 year old unit went out in Sept. last year. No one locally had one instock with the supply chain shortage. Got a new Gallery Frigidaire FGIC3066TB 30 inch Induction Cooktop for $938 from Overstock.com. Happy with it!

What's MAP? Minimum advertised price? Does that mean these specific units will be discontinued?

That's correct, MAP is manufacturer's way to make sure nobody sells it for price that's not approved, so usually if MAP is lifted it's available to all authorized sellers.

As to the discontinued - it's not likely that these are set to be discontinued. I was making my comment that there may be better pricing when these are finally discontinued (but also becomes YMMV at that point) - no clue as to when these would be discontinued though.

Thanks for posting the cheaper price - I saw those as well. The obvious warning there, is they (nor Woot) are authorized seller of these.

I have an older model of Frigidaire... and the boiling is definitely the best part - 4 Qt pot of water is about 1/2 time of an 18,000 BTU gas burner.

Good point on the authorized dealer issue. For what it's worth, I bought the 3066TB from Amazon sold by cybersavings in August of 2019 and it came in new condition without any problems.

We bought 2 of the 36" before the big price surge and parts problems and they work fine (HD).

They do not have as many induction zones under the glass as some of the very expensive models.

I will look up what we paid, but if they have not changed the product, this works.

$898

We have been looking at these. Anyone have experience with the Empava brand cooktops? The 36" is under $600. Is the Fridgidaire/IKEA worth the price bump? It's a different conversation with the prices this much closer.

How easy are these to replace a broken unit? Is it better to have it professionally installed?

Wow thanks! I was not aware they had cook tops. Looks decent. Not really sure I see any difference between the 699 and 799 version tho. They look identical.

I too been keeping an eye for this.

A standalone one can be bought for around $35 at bestbuy. 4 and it's only $140.
