M&K is ALWAYS the correct answer, but you can't take a M&K on the train.

Is this game good on the switch? Or is it better to play with mouse and keyboard?
Very good, not any issues with it that I can tell that wouldn't apply to the other versions, but this is the only version we've played. In order to play local split-screen multiplayer, you have to turn multiplayer off Confused which took us a while to figure out.

Amen, at least one other person who has not drunk the "paying twice as much makes perfect sense so you don't have to swap cartridges and can never sell the game" kool aid!

But yes, like the other person stated...if I had small kids their games might be digital purchases.

Local split screen was confusing to set up. I only got it to work once. Signing in to Microsoft account was buggy too. The game would just hang on loading and sign on screens. If you want to cross play, it requires online Nintendo subscription. I'd stay away from Switch version.

Physical is infinitely worse than digital. I can buy one digital copy of this and play on 3 switches. Try that with your Physical 😆. Enjoy buying 3 copies.

Guilty on occasion. But in a larger sense, I'm really wary of the way our entire society is slowly going to a "rent & subscribe" model on almost everything. It's minor with things like games, but I do believe it infects your psyche and creates this self-fulfilling prophecy of convenience over ownership. It feeds right into the needs of the oligarchs and we seem to be doing it willingly..,

From a purely technical perspective - don't buy Minecraft on the Switch. The 1st place my family played it was Switch (physical copy BTW), and it was constant load screen (chest in top right) and terrain not loading. We bought a digital copy and it definitely performed better.

But then we got it on Xbox S, and it's 4-6x as fast. Seldom loading "chest" and never the problem with terrain being missing.

Then I got it on PC, and even on a 5 year old (GTX 965) laptop, it blows away both consoles.

Just my $.02

Honestly I think you are right. And pretty much every digital "purchase" is only good as long as the company supports them....more like a long term rental. All these people "buying" digital movies are going to be highly upset when the company disappears or gets absorbed by another company, the movies they "own" will no longer be accessible. Even Nintendo is started to announce at release how long they will "support" a game. The same thing for the digital only consoles, those things will have ZERO value in a few years because you will not be able to play physical media on them. No more retro gaming market...unless you want to buy the same game you already own (but cannot access) to play on yet another console.

Bingo, however, there are some physical games that require internet access to run. If these companies decide to shut down the game's server then the same issue arises with physical copies of games that require internet connection.

That is very true too. I was really looking forward to Dying Light 2 on Switch but I am glad they delayed it that way I can buy on the Steam Deck (probably at half price the price). Not sure if PC version will require an internet connection but the Switch version is not even going to run on the Switch but via a remote server. Once that server shuts down...so will the game you "own." Also peak play times could also be an issue like PC games 20 years ago when everything was run off company managed servers. Want to play at 5-8PM EST...good luck!

I just bought this today, and price matched at Best Buy. My 7 year old boy's first copy.

The iOS and Android versions are cheaper. they are the same Bedrock edition and can interplay with other platforms.
I got a 'free' copy of Minecraft from Amazon app store using no-rush digital credits, installed on two cheap Kindle Fire 10 tablets for my kids and they've been happily playing since. Doesn't sound like there is any real advantage to the Switch version based on the comments here.
