The phone itself is $100 cheaper, but it now requires first three months service charge at $60/month (one more month than before). Overall, it is $40 cheaper than the previous deal from last month.

It asks for a SSN when checking out. If I'm using a port in number I bought from ebay, what SSN should I put? Anyone run into this?

So it looks like if we purchase the phone in a store, we have to pay $25 activation+any other "accessories" fees they try and tack on, but we avoid prepaying $180 for 3 months. So we can switch to the $30/month plan for months 2 and later? This would only say about $30 due to the activation fee I guess. I plan on having service with Cricket for at least 6 months.

Tried porting a numberbarn #, but not accepted. Then tried activating a $1 Ting SIM from Target, but Ting is telling me the SIM is old. Any good solutions for quickly and cheaply getting a # to port in for this promo?

You are correct. You can avoid the $180 3-month payment requirement by going to a Cricket store. In that case the charges would be:
Device, $100
1st month service, $60
Activation fee, $25
BS charges (authorized dealer), $xx
Tax on device, $xx (Corporate store, tax is on discounted price, $100; Authorized dealer, tax is on full price, $500)

And yes, you can downgrade to the $30 plan once you leave the store to extend the initial's month payment to 2 months. Also, you can use a referral code to get a $25 credit to be applied to the third month's payment
