If you really want to take a small kid on a bike ride get a trailer. They can be had really cheap and are so much safer than these. They also can be used for years while the kid grows. My 6 year old Still climbs in ours when she gets to tired to ride her bike. Just strap her bike to the back of the trailer and she jumps in.
I couldn't agree more.

If you've ever had an accident on a bike (I did recently, and it was bad), you would never ever consider something like this.

Take this posters advice and pick up a trailer.
I like trailers, too, but it's apples and oranges. Trailers are generally safer, but just as a counterpoint they:

—double your width
—nearly double your length
—add a lot of weight and rolling resistance
—require storage and some maintenance
—can be stiflingly hot for the kid (even wide open)

The correct answer is "both!" but these are still really worth considering. Just ride conservatively due to a little higher Cg and exposure.

I had one of these and it worked pretty good from 2-3 but halfway through 3 the weight was becoming too much.

When I hit a crack it would bounce and hit the back tire.

My daughter will be 1 by the time the weather is good enough to take her out on a ride. Would this be a good option to get?

we purchased a WeeRide Kangaroo a couple months ago, but my now 1.5yr old is a little too big for it. Anyone know if this seat would be big enough to be worth it?

For reference, the WeeRide Kangaroo we have now is rated for 1-4yr olds up to 33lbs. My 1.5yr old is just over 30lbs and he barely squeezes into the Kangaroo.

I can confirm this as well. After having a seat like this then going to the trailer, it was night and day pertaining to comfort and sizing. You can sometimes catch Allen trailers on sale from walmart for $100.

I have only used a burley trailer, safest bet but now I used the shotgun for my 3 year old whom sits directly in front of me. I really would not use this where I cannot grab my son if we happen to fall. If your kid is too young to grab onto anything, I would go with a trailer.

I agree. I had my kid in a bike trailer. Made a turn too sharply too fast. The trailer flipped on its side and was dragged about 20 feet before it came to a stop. Kid was 100% unharmed and only a few scrapes (cosmetic) on the bike trailer. I'm still using the same bike trailer today without issue. 👍🏻

Glad the trailer kept your kiddo safe, this does not seem to support the argument that rear bike seats like this one are unsafe.

This was very cheap feeling an uncomfortable for our child. We had to return and got a more expensive brand, totally worth it
