This definitely seems like a worse deal than the 80K mile offers (or maybe it was even higher?). It says you get the pass after spending 5K in 3 months which is relatively heavy spending....but lets say you apply and get the card in 1 week 2/18/22, then complete the spending requirements in 2 months (2.5k a month) instead of 3) earliest you would get the companion pass would be 4/18/22 and it will expire on 2/28/23 so only 10 months of use) (most likely tied to statement date or something of the like - so likely even less). The 50K difference in flights is enough to cover at least 2 RT flights and likely more. Whereas with the 80K sign up bonus if you work the way to the companion pass you end up with the remainder of the year you qualify and the following year for free companion flights and you have more miles to book with......this one is a pass
Someone can travel with you whenever you do, for free. You still pay tax on fare. The pass lasts 1y.

It's a nice deal, you have to factor in how many times you would use it in a year to calculate the saving. Often southwest tickets are cheap in first place. Meanwhile there are other non related credit cards out there with 80,000-100,000 points which I think is a better deal.

If you are a hardcore flyer on southwest, it would be a slickdeal.
Only 4 people total. Once you set your companion, you can only change it 3 times.

About 200k points roughly. But I actually got CP this year by doing one card SW biz when they ran the 100k offer. I then referred a buddy for 20k. Got 130k points total and CP. And you also get CP thru 23, not Feb 23.

Nice job. I got my first one this way, but have had it ever since. Not sure which way I'll go next time.

Didn't CP used to be valid for the year earned, and a full calendar year the next?

Is there still a way to do the 2 card bonus? I might do this one if that's not an option any longer. It looks like that's no longer available

That's still the case if earned by merit. Flying or spending the requisite amount means you'll get it starting from the month you earn it until the end of the following year. They're more specific with their incentives when it's earned as a bonus, as this is.

I did the 100,000 end of 2021. Got 100,000 after spending $12,000. I'm up to 115,000 on the Companion. The last 15,000 spend is going to be tough. In my case this may have been better even though 70,000 less miles

Consider upgrading any flights to business select and using rapid rewards shopping. If you spend about $1075 in biz select fares on that card and fly it you're there. ($1075 * 2 pts per dollar) + 12 points for the dollar spent on the actual flight. I know it's a lot but a lot less than 15k. Also some of the cards had more than 2 pts/dollar on southwest purchases.

Wait, you get 12 points per dollar for flight spend? Didn't know that

I am just hoping that I can refer someone and that way I can get remaining 10k points

No. U get 2 or 3 points per dollar spent at Southwest depending on your card.

When u actually fly, regardless of how it was paid for (excluding points) u get 12 points per dollar for business select fare class. I think 10 for anytime and 6 for wanna get away.

Example $500 business class fare earns 1000 points on plus card.
When u actually fly it, receive 6000 points.

Actual earning from that is 7000 points. Sometimes they run promos to get double points on certain city pairs and certain time periods but they're targeted.

Got it. Isn't it too much to spend $1100 for flights (prob double of normal ticket price) when you could just spend to pay for mortgage etc and eat 2-3% fees? Even if it's 3%, you can spend $10k and you would have just spent max $300 in fees
