Each year the deal gets worse and worse. Tried to hold out and hope a better deal comes each year but no such luck. Maybe it's time to consider switching.

If you are already a taxact user and have a login, be sure to log in BEFORE you select which return you want to start. When I selected a return type to start for free it next asked me to login, which I did, and it gave me a higher price on that return. So I then went back to the SD link and clicked it again to a new tab and selected a return type to start new (I was logged in at that point) and THEN it gave me the discounted price.
Also btw, if you like to get audit defense, once you start to fill in your return, Taxact might offer you a bundle deal including it that is even cheaper overall from this deal. That's what I got and did. The bundle was $27 cheaper on premium for me.
You can check your return costs in My return details on the left pane or in my account top right and you can delete the more expensive one if you did what I did.

Anyone know how long the discount is good? I did one like this last year, but didn't final for a few weeks and it removed the discount. They claim price is finalized based on when you file, not when you start. Per their web page with this discount:
TaxAct Online Deluxe Edition
Federal Return fee: $17.46
State Return fee: $31.46
"Actual prices are determined at the time of payment, print or e-file and are subject to change without notice. Add sales tax for applicable orders. Offers may end at any time and promotional offers may not be combined."

Reminder that TaxAct is free via IRS Free File agreement for those with Average Gross Income under $65,000 age 56 or under, Federal and in many cases State.
