I have the 21" and love it. It is true that you must let the self propelled system disengage before you can pull it in reverse, but it only takes 1-2 seconds for that to happen. I just try to remember to release the self-propelled part and manually push for the last few feet when I am going to need to back up.

They do sell spare parts. My wife ran over mine with her Escalade and I had to buy a few parts from their website. They were all reasonably priced and shipped fast.

I own these products from Greenworks. Here are my positive and negative feedback on each one. Note I live in the midwest so depending on your location, results may vary:

* 20inch lawner 2019 version bought on clearance from Lowe's. It is great I don't have to worry about gas, oil, oil changes, etc. that you have to worry about with a gas powered mower. It's also not nearly as loud as my neighbors who have gas powered mowers. I have roughly .75 acre lot and I have to use 2-4 4ah battery charges to complete cutting depending on weather for that week. It missed quite a few blades of grass when going even 1/2 speed of self propelled. You would think that sharpening the blades would help, but no, it does not. I sharpen 4-5 times a year and still doesn't help. The speed of the blades spinning does not seem to be enough, and unfortunately it's 'smart' technology can't be overwritten and have it go at full speed all the time. I just don't think it gets enough RPM's to the blade to effectively cut without leaving quite a few misses. As stated by the review above, you CANNOT get whatever parts you want for these mowers. For instance, there are 2 types of blades (mulching, non-mulching) and the mulching blade has been out of stock with Greenworks and 3rd party resellers since 2019. You can look up reviews. There are no other blades from another manufacturer with the same slots in them. I can't use an aftermarket or other name brand blade in this mower as it just simply isn't compatible.

* Trimmer/blower combo I got in 2019 on clearance as well works great. Does what it needs to. Great because I got the same 60v line as the other equipment I have.

* Snow Blower I purchased in 2021 and used a few times this season. I purchased the snow blower because last year we had quite a few snow storms where the snow was as high as the top of my SUV on the side of my driveway. I also ended up with a lot of snow mold along my path ways due to the weather we had. I was hoping that it would make snow removal easier and save my grass a bit in the spring. The times I have used it I noticed that my neighbors have self propelled snow blowers. It would make things a little bit easier but not a deal breaker. The nice thing about the snow blower is that it's again quieter and light enough to where I can hang it in my garage when it's not snow season. The negatives is that like the lawn mower, it doesn't seem nearly as powerful as the neighbors who have gas powered. It doesn't shoot the snow nearly as far, much smaller, and the biggest thing, is not heavy enough. You have to put your weight on the snow blower to push it down as you are going otherwise it just sort of 'glides' along and leaves a very thin amount of snow behind.

Batteries: I had a 4ah that came with the mower originally, a 2ah that came with my mower/trimmer combo, and then I purchased an extra 4ah. I am putting batteries in a separate category as a warning and advice to others. My batteries are kept in my attached garage. I don't leave them charging all the time and don't leave them in the equipment when not sing them. My batteries I purchased in 2019 were only lasting about 15-20 minutes while cutting the grass so at the beginning of 2021 I contacted Greenworks warranty and they sent me out new batteries, no questions asked. So I got 2 more 4ah batteries from Greenworks. Luckily I called days before my 2 year warranty expired. Sometime between 2019 and 2021 they changed the warranty length on the batteries to 3 or 4 years, forgot. The nice thing is that it wasn't a hassle, but please make sure you are mindful of how well your battery is performing and when it expires to get a new one sent out. My old batteries still 'work' but they don't work with the same results as they used to.

All in all, I looked at this thread because I am heavily debating on upgrading my mower to one that supports two batteries and trying to sell my old one. It would help me in cutting my lawn and not having to swap the battery out several times. It is also a bigger deck than the one I have currently. The only thing I wish Greenworks or a 3rd party reviewer would do is tell us what the max and average RPM's are of the mower blades. If I knew it solved some of the above issues, I would bite on it.

Edit: found this youtube video that shows it would cut down doing my lawn from about 2 hours but the cutting (and why) is still an issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGoyO7JutQI

Great deal but a few things to consider after reading many reviews....

-Several complaints about problems when pulling the mower backwards. Seems like it doesn't disengage the self propelled system and the user literally has to drag it.

-Greenworks does not sell parts for their products. If you accidently cause damage to your mower by hitting large stick or rock you will likely need to replace the whole unit.

Been wanting a larger cut mower for some time now but these issues have kept me away from this brand.

This looks very tempting. They don't offer free returns with this, so you're pretty much stuck whether you like it or not

Thanks! I've been eyeballing this thing for about a year and a half. ~$450 shipped got me to pull the trigger.

I take some of the onsite negative reviews with a grain of salt. (for instance, that reverse issue is more user error than a real problem) The reviews from people that actually use mowers have been solid.

If anyone's wondering, that 30% coupon appears to work on other stuff as well. Now I'm debating the 60V cultivator/tiller that's on clearance...

Love my 20" and all the 60v tools of theirs that I have.
An upgraded 25" would be sweet, but I'm waiting to see what their future plans are regarding 40v / 60v / 80v.
If / when I get a snowblower I'll make future purchases based on its voltage.

As I mentioned this was strictly based on the reviews I read on HD website regarding Greenworks mowers. Someone mentioned they damaged their plastic deck after hitting a stick. Called CS and they told him that the whole unit would need to be replaced since it was user error (not covered by warranty). As you have pointed out it looks like most parts are available maybe just not whole decks. Not hating on the product, a 25" will cut down on mow time considerably. Just suggesting reading over the reviews before jumping into such a large investment.

Very tempting... I bought the older model 21" self propelled with battery and charger on clearance for $199 a while back and also bought the leaf blower and string trimmer with battery and charger for $100 so I have the full set. Only thing I'm missing is the edger, but its really not necessary. Everything has worked great except the string trimmer. The bump feed gets stuck and can't feed more line. I have to flip it around pull the strings out to get more. Even when doing that, it only works 30% of the time. I have to resort to opening the housing and un-coil the feed, closing it back up and cut the excess. Really annoying to work with and was looking to upgrade to the 16" with the quickfeed design every since.

21" is fine and works well. However, 25" would speed things up very quickly so its worth the upgrade there.

The EGO products have great reviews and that's the system I would get if money weren't a factor.
At about $420 for a mower, you're knocking on the door of the EGO system you can sometimes get on clearance or shopping around CL.

Unsure if I should upgrade to this mower, or spend more money to switch over into the EGO system.

Yep, the self propel disengage is definitely a thing on the 25" too. But as you say, literally something you kind of just adapt to as you use the mower more. First couple times I was dragging the mower backwards a lot, but over time got used to it and it almost never happens to me now. It is a minor annoyance at first, and then something that goes away completely once you get used to it.

If someone decides not to buy this mower because of that, they are just looking for reasons not to buy it. That's silly.

I purchased this a few weeks ago during another sale, but this would save me $60. Called customer service but they just gave told me a ticket number for the price adjustment and said no promises.

There is still snow on the ground, so I haven't tried the mower, but it seems to be decently well built. Assembly was easy. The box did arrive basically destroyed given that it can't be fun to have to hand-deliver a massive 90lb box to someone's snowy driveway.

I'd rather have 2 x 4ah than a single 5ah, if that is what you are asking. My 21" came with a 2.5ah and 4ah, and that combo has been perfect. I also have a 5ah and another 2.5ah from other combos I've purchased. Bought the 25"er today to add to the collection Smilie.
