I'm going to be the guy that compares this to relatively recent thinkpad deals over Dec/Jan. Obviously you can't go back in the past and this is a decent deal if you need one now, but I do not feel this should be frontpage.

I got a t14s for $66 more with significantly better specs: ryz 7 pro, 32 gigglygoos ram, 1 tb drive, 500 nits touchscreen

Really tempted to jump on this, but I'm not a fan of 16x9 screens on laptops. Can anyone suggest an alternative with a taller aspect ratio (e.g. 16x10)?

Thanks for the recommendation. How does the Ideapad pro build quality compare to the Thinkpad?

Just snagged the thinkpad x13 gen 2 ryzen 7 pro 5850U, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd open box on eBay for $10 more than this deal. The x13 has 5% less display real estate (13.3" 16:10 vs 14" 16:9). Overall very happy. I'd expect Lenovo to drop a deal for one that has at least 16gb memory like bf last year, but who knows when.

e Thinkpad

I saw the Ideapad Pro 14 in person and the build (case, lid, hinge, keyboard, screen) was great. Not super light weight like HP Aero 13.3 but I liked the sturdyness.

Thinkpad >IdeaPad or Thinkbook but they start to overlap. I have an older Lenovo Yoga and I'm going with the IdeaPad or Legion 5i Pro 16 at Costco if it goes on sale to $999. Microcenter HP Aero 13 $699 deal was also a contender but no touchscreen.

I'm buying the Costco Idea Pro 14 next week.

Mac vs PC aside, is this a good laptop for the price? Or is this just a "good" deal?
I bought the Thinkbook 13s a few months ago for $719 and it's better in many key areas. 1920x1200 resolution, 512GB SSD, and 8 cores. If you don't specifically need a Thinkpad, look at the Thinkbook.

Is the only difference the trackpad? I do love that thing. Use it all the time.

For a laptop such as this, which do you folks think is better - 16GB of LPDDR4X 4266 MHz or 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz? I know you can't upgrade the LPDDR4X, but 16 gb works for me. Also have heard that the LPDDR4X is better for iGPU such as this laptop, but does it make that much of a difference? Can get the same spec as this model only with the DDR4 and 512 SSD for $47 less ($802).
