Speaking of F keys, I don't like having to hold Ctrl just to push F5 to refresh, or F2 in Excel. They all default to things like external monitor or volume controls. IMHO it should be the other way around — Function first, Ctrl-function for all the ancillary stuff.
Most of HP's 17 inch laptops have RAM upgradeability, so this should be no different.

It doesn't actually have a video card... so there is no video card to run any games. At all.
That being said, the integrated graphics on this are not bad for a budget laptop. It will run most games my kids play just fine (minecraft, roblox, unturned) at usable fps/settings.
What exactly do you expect from a $500 laptop? You can't even buy a graphics card for $500.
Thank you.

Harbor freight sells car panel removal tools that work great for this for like $5

This i5 is an amazing CPU. I see a 17.3" Lenovo at VipOutlet (can be trusted and easy returns) for about $420. Only problem is that Lenovos usually have one mem module soldered in. So have limited upgrade paths. If you buy 8GB you can upgrade to 12Gb and that is it

Beware some are HD+ --- Not Full HD
Last time I replaced the battery in an earlier version of this laptop, it was very hard to pry up because it was glued down.

Nope, just peel off two rubber strips at the bottom - each hides two screws. Then remove all screws, then take a plastic thingy and push up from the side where the keyboard is, move the thingy along the perimeter popping up the bottom cover. Remove the cover, there are no wires attached to it. You see 2 so-dimm slots. That's it.
put the cover back, put the screws back. use a hair dryer or a heat gun to glue rubber strips back.
