8. Make sure the final price is $1,466.32 and you can get 3% from Dell rewards after delivery and cashbacks from SD too

Reason to choose this machine over m15 r5 Ryzen edition FP deal:
  1. Dell fixed mux switch and cuda cores on 3070, TGP boosted to 130w with BIOS update.
  2. RTX 3070 is better to use with QHD screen, G-sync and Advanced Optimus gives you more battery life on the go w/o switch Mux switch to reboot.
  3. QHD screen come w/ IR camera support windows hello, it have variety of usage not only for login authentication. Such as admin permission and 1Password, Dropbox.
  4. 1TB ssd and 16G DDR both are swappable, x15 or m15 r4 before can't swap memory.
  5. Intel 11 gen have better performance in than Ryzen 5800H, Alienware have more tweak optimization on fan profile and thermal than m15 r5.
  6. It has Thunderbolt 4 port with Power Deliver output
  7. Per Dell support page. r6 support [dell.com] XMP memory while r5 couldn't [dell.com]

This one is a instant delivery with in days from us warehouse stock. That R4 is on backorder need resemble in China and wait until shipment clear on ports, estimation of delivery is May.
10870H is about 10-20% slower than 11800H both in multithreaded and single thread application.
R6 can swap DDR4 memory and it's 3200, you can upgrade to 32G or 64G. R5 came with soldered 16G memory and it's 2933.
R6 also support PCIE 4.0, the SSD should be substantially faster on specs.
R6 have QHD screen support windows hello, R4 is 1080p 300hz
R6 have Advanced Optimus and Mux switch, R4's always on dGPU thus battery will be a lot less when used in light workload.
Not sure what are you expect an $1400 gaming laptop's screen. It's 240hz QHD IPS 400nits screen and you can't find a miniLED or OLED even close to that refresh rate for less than $5000.
I fully agree his review on that unit and that moment he created the video review, but Jarrod's review happens before 2 important bios update and missed the bigger feature of QHD screen w/ windows hello IR camera:

1. bios update to add Mux switch
2. bios update to add extra power to 130w 3070 TGP instead of 115w

It's Dell's loss to send a premature and inferior unit for him to review. With adequate updates and a better screen like this one, I'd say there is no shortcoming on performance and rich in non gaming features. Alienware m15 never the top performer on market, it's m17 and x17's job.
And for R6 I listed those pros like XMP memory support, TB4 ports and 11800H performance boost are not addressed in that review too.

Dell financing made it confusing... Is it like applying for a credit card?

They're launching it this year, but congratulation limited to Ryzen only: https://www.xda-developers.com/de...nched/amp/

Pretty ideal, but no QHD option for the 17. Which is weird because my R4 from a few years ago has QHD at 120Hz.

Thanks OP. Did a split payment to get the 120 off 599 from AMEX and the rest 5% off with chase. Very Slick deal.

Does anybody know if this thing has the massive power adapter? I bought my son the Dell G15 5511 SE (which I returned bc of a screen issue out of the box) and I was very surprised that the power cord block was almost the size of a tablet. Not a fan of that...

I have a Dell G15 with 11800H and 3060 and the CPU bottlenecks the system. I do think that it will will do the same here, which makes me hesitant to say it's a great deal. Unless this model has insanely good cooling, which I doubt for a laptop, then it may be worth it. Otherwise, I would either downgrade to a 3060 or one with a set up CPU.

That's a horrible rate (out of the box). My G15 with 3060 pulls more than that. Have you tried optimizing? Depending on the vram you should be able to get 58-65.

There are a few guides on Reddit. Save yourself some power, run cooler and pull a better rate.

I followed this exact video guide, it's actually not very intimidating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfGOQ0PBFRM
Just remember: disconnect battery first.
