The cooler you keep your batteries during charging, the longer they will last.
This is an 8 amp charger, the ones in the kits are usually 2 or 4 amps (although I did get this one in a Flexvolt kit)

Getting real hard to flip my xtra chargers from kits due to the 40 pages of Chinese knockoffs buyers have to wade through anymore. To the previous poster, I am sitting on like 10 extra of them that just sit around. I just find it better to buy kits, Or buy battery "Kits" that come again with chargers because we go through quite a few batts when working with tools all day.
It eats battery life fast. Especially with Dewalt cheapening their batteries since mid-2019.
I hope no one puts a power stack on here. Ooof. Spicy pillows.
All in all, with Dewalt, just buy more batteries vs charging them quickly. The cells in them aren't exactly top notch. But the computer in the fast charger isn't either.

The "sale" prices on dewalts are often what they should be sold for anyways.
How and why Dewalt sells so many during the "deal" months, but still has a 25%+ increase in profits... because they've cut their costs so drastically. And with it, their quality. One thing they didn't cut, was marketing budgets. And for profits it's smart. But for consumers, it's a poor investment.
It's a shame what Stanley Black and Decker is doing to Dewalt. But it's inevitable I suppose. All tool brands decline eventually, and a different brand comes up to fill the void.

I eventually found a deal last Jan. at Lowes that offered a big battery, this charger, a couple of tools all for an amazing price. The fast charger was basically free. I think they're absolutely worth it but I would try to get in a bundle deal if you can.
