no it was an actual thing with 3rd party docks (not chargers). But they now found the cause and some 3rd party docks are fine

I have the rockfish charger for stwitch and it does semi-brick and force me to reboot

I have this. Bought it last year for $25. It's been great. Great for extended battery and my daughter loves using it just for the kickstand.

Why not use a separate stand with an opening and a decent 10-20000 mAh powerbank that is compatible with everything and would end up costing less?

Why not? Apparently a lot of things have happened on the 17th day of October: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_17. But seriously, at $21 I'm considering it. I only play my Switch once or twice a month and the battery is always dead even if disable WiFi, etc, whereas my 2011 iPad can hold a charge several weeks. Not a huge deal, but I do have to let the Switch charge up for 5-10 mins before it'll even light up the screen. I'd like to know if this can instantly wake the switch up.

Everything being all in one has value. Quicker to set up, can just leave it on all the time, easier to take down. Especially for young kids.

Your solution works too though, and has its own upsides of course

If you turn switch off completely, it will hold charge.(complete power down )

Letting it sleep will drain down to 0 in few days
