This gives you far more flexibility than a crosscut sled, since you can set the cut angle to anything you want to within 0.5 degrees. A crosscut sled is set to 90 degrees and that's it, but may allow you to handle slightly wider pieces safely. I have this exact incra miter gauge and it is excellent. Very accurate and repeatable cuts. I'm a serious hobbyist cabinet maker. I bought it for $129 years ago, so $149 today is a good deal IMHO
Many uses but it's a very accurate tool to replace a miter saw and make very consistent cuts for the most part. You can build your own crosscut sled if that's all you need.
I've been having the same thoughts. Because space is an issue, I have the metabo DeWalt clone saw. Was thinking the incra would be nice but it's quite large.
