Champion Support on Sam's Club Q&A says that:

This generator will put out the standard THD rating of about 12%-20% depending on load applied. They will produce a sine wave, not a modified or square wave. This is perfectly acceptable for running common commodities found in your home such as TVs, computers, your appliances, etc. THD is a measure of the deviation of a sine wave from a "pure" sine wave. All electricity, including line electricity, has measurable THD. If you have a specific item that requires less than 5% THD such as a UPS style battery backup, a pellet stove or high efficiency furnace control board, we recommend purchasing a Champion Inverter Generator (sizes from 1600W to 3500W); Champion Open Frame Inverters (sizes from 3500W to 8750W); or a Champion Home Standby Generator (range from 8.5KW to 14KW); all units provide a less than 5% THD. Consult your Appliance Manufacturer to determine if it will require a less than 5% THD power source. Thank you.

It still was $800 as of Saturday in my local Costco and $900 online.

This one can run off natural gas.

Edit - the Firman can run off NG as well.

So assuming that I can connect my A/C compressor to the transfer switch at home, could this generator run my central air since it has the 240 plug?

Yes. Best to just install a transfer switch.

Most central a/c units are about 3500 watts. So you'd want a 5,000 watt gen minimum. This would be plenty.

Not a good deal. I bought home bank up generator recently and did my research. You only 4500 Max for home bank up
There are a lot of variables depending on the home. 4500 is fine for a place with a lot of natural gas appliances, I could run on that. In fact for anything that generates heat natural gas is the single most efficient method out there. Unless you have a massive solar array and battery banks galore. With my house I don't include the cebtral ac and one or two outlet here or there because I only have a 6 switch transfer switch. And it's emergency usage only and I don't live where people aren't supposed to anyway. So heat is not usually an issue.

Electric appliances? Well pump? Dryer? Oven? Microwave.... All those add to it. So there are home applications that require more wattage.

I bought the inverter one a week ago. It hasn't arrived yet, but they dropped the price $150 and amazon refuses to give me the difference 😠

No max really. Efficient use of fuel vs a larger motor not being utilized? But other than that no max necessary.
