Personal experience with this case is it doesn't offer much drop protection and the corners flake off easily. At least for the 12. I'd recommend a hard case.

I love Apple's cases. Great fit. They actually are basically a hard case with a soft touch layer. The leather ones are nicer feeling but only the black ones stay ok looking with use. The silicone look good but grip inside pockets and get dust stuck in them. But overall great fit and worth it on sale.

The silicone material on the 12 & 13 iPhone model is very low quality, compared with past Apple original silicone cases.
Probably Apple change suppliers to keep up with prices, but the two original silicone cases that I bought peeled from the corners, never happened before with same cases from Apple, and I really take good care of my iPhone.

I bought 2 and regret it. Protection on even cheaper cases is better than these. They feel great and look great, nice and sleek, but overall I wouldn't recommend.

Just another anecdote but I've been very happy with the clear Apple MagSafe case I bought last year. Got a MagSafe wallet and a Belkin car vent mount which has been especially great (both were ~20-30% cheaper using well-reviewed eBay resellers). Not an inexpensive ecosystem but so far so good on the quality/usability.

why the $$ do i never see a good deal on iphone 12 case? I seem deals on the 13, 12 mini and 12 max but never the regular 12/12 pro. line!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about the 13 case this thread is for but the silicone case for the 12 was the first Apple case to survive the EAP 50 foot drop test. Of course how it hits is a huge part of whether the phone survives but for a case as slim as these that's pretty insane.

$26 for a real Apple case is a good deal, the biggest knock on these is (imo) they're kind of slick so will slide off a slight incline which the leather may not after it breaks in a bit. I would avoid buying from Amazon because of counterfeits and stock mixing though.
