Quick question for people who have had this experience. My wife has the last gen of these and uses them for work. I was thinking the pro would be better for her as Ive heard its better for calls, but she doesnt want the different ear piece. Can anyone speak if the mic quality on new gen basic has improved?

I've been on the lookout for the 3rd gens to replace my 1st gen, so I think I may be on this.

Any word on how these compare against the pro's that have noise isolation though?

I like my pros I have complaints when connected to PC as they don't have the apple driver but for music and iPhone calls its nice

Pros are more expensive still for a reason. They are superior in every single way unless you don't like the ear pieces.

When making calls the big deal is active noise cancellation, which the pros have and these don't. So I suggest the pros for calls.

I bought these and returned them when Costco had a sale. These barely hang on your ears and fall out.

Pros are better all around. If you only want airpods for something like at home office calls and your home isn't noisy these will be fine assuming they fit and stay in your ear. These would not stay in my ears for longer than 20min. The noise isolation and transparency mode of the pros however are great if you want to use them in more varied and noisier environments.

Honestly, the only reason I bought these over the Pros is because I can't stand stuffing silicone tips into my ears. I just can't get used to it. It's widely accepted that they're superior, though.

Did you actually try them though? I had tried many different brands and always felt the silicone in-ear aspect was very uncomfortable but something about the pros is different, it doesn't go in that far and you have to pick the right size for your ear. Very comfortable

These are my go to earbuds. My AirPods Pro always fall out of my ears even when using the highly rated aftermarket tips.

These gen 3 are better IMO, unless you need noise canceling. I bought a set of the beats pro fit for exercise and commute.

That's good to know. I haven't tried the Pros, just several other sealing ear buds. I haven't had a lot of trouble keeping the 2nd gen non-Pros in my ears, though (until I lost them altogether).

I have both the original Airpods and Airpods Pro. The sound quality on Airpods Pro is superior to the regular Airpods for sure. Noise cancellation is also a big plus if you are working from home and on calls and trying to block out noise. Spatial audio is also cool.

However, I prefer wearing the standard Airpods for anything active. I can't stand sealed earbuds when walking or running. The seal creates a sort of thump with every step that drives me crazy. I also find the standard Airpods to be more comfortable for extended listening sessions.The seal on the Pros is not uncomfortable but after a while I do get a little tired of wearing them. Recently I've found myself reaching for the standard Airpods over the Pros.

I'm interested in this 3rd gen version of Airpods because they aren't sealed but I've heard that the sound quality is improved and bass is more present.

My friends can't tell the difference when i'm using my pros or my 3's
