Some of the Trade in Values are much less this time (XR down to $250 and iP11 down to $350). . .some are higher like $640 for Galaxy S21 trade in. Perfect if you got the XR cheap 2 months ago, traded in for clearance S21, which can be traded in + $60 for an iP13. Can't trade the S21 on the base iP13 mini as TIV exceeds phone purchase price, but you could do it on the 256GB version.
The $640 Trade in Value on the S21 is as big a deal as the $100 off the iPhone.
And the $640 TIV seems good towards most TMO phones over $640, i.e. S22 line, Pixel 6
EDIT: $640 TIV is only for $128GB of S21. 256GB version fetches only $420.

TBH, I don't think the blue shirts see what your TIV is in store for online orders, they are just trying to match a trade to an order, and have you sign the form for the actual (i.e. lower) trade in value. . .and if they take the trade, then all is well as your transaction agreement terms were settled before you went to the store to pickup/trade
EDIT: this is not something you want to do buy in store. You will not get $640 TIV for an S21 that way!!! They will see the $420 or $520 or possibly $550 TIV and go with whichever one of those values that is on their weekly TIV sheet.

And BTW, it requires monthly payments on ATT to get lower price. . .better deal for ATT is through ATT direct

And wondering if S21U has $770 value, why anything tagged as S21U has a $640 value (and obviously because you or me chose it as an S21)
You can always check out the BB unlocked deals with ATT activate today. . .but their TIV's will be less, but with many time $100 lower phone cost, and no obligation for 24 months, is your best ATT bet without going to ATT to buy. . .
If I were with ATT proper already, I would be scrounging for a 10 year old used and broken Galaxy S series phone to trade for free ABC for an new S22 etc. . . .
