Some of the Trade in Values are much less this time (XR down to $250 and iP11 down to $350). . .some are higher like $640 for Galaxy S21 trade in. Perfect if you got the XR cheap 2 months ago, traded in for clearance S21, which can be traded in + $60 for an iP13. Can't trade the S21 on the base iP13 mini as TIV exceeds phone purchase price, but you could do it on the 256GB version.
The $640 Trade in Value on the S21 is as big a deal as the $100 off the iPhone.
And the $640 TIV seems good towards most TMO phones over $640, i.e. S22 line, Pixel 6
EDIT: $640 TIV is only for $128GB of S21. 256GB version fetches only $420.
QA Note: The $640 is only for the Black S21 color. The other colors are $420

blue shirt found the trade-in item is S21ultra and black shirt (manager?) was also nearby, I put my phone in front of them and placed another same order on BB website and showed them $640 TIV, they agreed and honored me the order. I haven't signed any paperwork, but they indeed handed me a customer copy of trade-in confirmation which showing S21 (not ultra) on it. Walked out with a ip13 in about 20mins.
I'd say it's a slickdeal if it worked out, but highly YMMV
Also do you just pay full price with trade in and pay one month of service while requesting an unlock for the device through t-mobile?

ISSUE:
In the bestbuy website, S21 black 128gb tmobile is showing TIV of $640. On bestbuy internal systems, it still shows $640, but it translates to s21 ultra as trade-in.
MY EXPERIENCE:
I went to bestbuy yesterday again. The person said, they can call a internal team (forgot the name) who provides trade-in value overrides. So, I would advise going well within business hours for this.
For my case, I went at 7pm. The TIV overrides team was closed. So, the blue shirt person (amazing guy. Raises the bar on customer service) spoke to another blue shirt person. They took my trade in at $420 for S21. For the remaining $220 left from $640, they generated a store card and paid that amount. So, I effectively got the $640 trade-in value.
BestBuy folks are pretty sweet. Give them time and if possible, go in non busy times. They will help you out.
My location was a BestBuy in Seattle,
They grouped the black only TMO only S21U wrong. Grouped it with the S21's. . .which didn't happen until they officially stopped selling the TMO Black S21U as new, last week.
In fact there is no choice to trade in a black TMO S21U. If you want to trade in a black S21U the only carrier choices are ATT, VZW, and Sprint. And if you choose black S21 (which doesn't exist) to trade, TMO is the only choice (and the system in store sees it as S21U trade).
The other colors of S21U get $770 in trade ($540 base + $230 PROMO value). The S21 black (which shows up in their system as black S21U) only garners $640 ($320 base + $320 promo). so that's really not right for an S21U value either.
The other S21 choices for TIV show $420 ($320 base + $100 promo). . .I would think in store $520 would be the correct value right now?
Sometimes you get more from online TIV, sometimes you get screwed if it has an oddball low value and you don't ask. Before this week, the TMO S21's were being lowballed online, showing $350 ($350 base plus ZERO promo) when all the instore flyers and reps said it was $550. . .they said their onine trades have mistakes from time to time. . .understatement!
I called my BB store mobile desk and let them look up my order, they're able to see the order and couldn't see the trade-in item details, not even able to confirm the trade-in item is S21.. weird. Seems I have to drive there and try out in person.
Any guesses on what kind of tiv lol
