Samsung is
Price Matching Upgraded Trade-in Value via Live Chat for their
Select New Galaxy Devices.
Note, scroll-down and click chat with us under support. If you have not sent your trade-in yet, you'll most likely be told they'll create a ticket awaiting your trade-in to be received to complete the price match.

Per original post:
"I simply asked the following...
I pre-ordered my phone (Order # XXXXXXXXXX ), and I noticed the trade-in price for my device went up from $600 to $850. Could the increased trade-in value be applied to my original order?
They took five minutes and said they would price match the current value and I would receive a refund within 48 hours."

(I contacted Samsung on their website [samsung.com] via live chat... that sent me a link to another live chat that handled such promotions)
So just successfully finished a Samsung chat session to secure a $160 refund.
What I said:
"I purchased an S22+ and I already received a trade-in of $440 for my S21.
I notice the trade-in value of my S21 is now at $600.
Was the $440 a mistake?
Can the trade-in value of my S21 be updated for me to receive a refund of $160?"
The chat rep simply requested a screen shot of an S22+ being configured and showing the $600 revised S21 trade value.

VERY IMPORTANT: Unless things have changed, Samsung will only let you do ONE price match or 5% - 10% discount per order. You can't do both. So, if you reached out after placing your order to try the "cancel trick" for an additional discount, you will have to choose if you want to use that reference ID, or the reference ID from the increased trade in value.
Once they apply an additional discount via a reference number, they won't give you any further discounts. The reps will sometimes say that a price match will not affect your additional discount promised by customer service but that's not true.
You can try submitting more than one reference ID, but you'll most likely just get an email saying that they can't process your second request because you already received a discount on that order.
Also, just as an FYI, I've done a lot of price matches and "cancel tricks" via Samsung customer service. They only gave me a hard time once and it was for a watch. For some reason, they just wouldn't honor the price match that the rep promised even though the original rep checked and confirmed the lower price.
I've probably done this at least 10 times, if not more, and that was the only time I had an issue, so overall it's been a positive experience and I've saved a ton of extra money.
Edit: I put the more important info at the top.

Like others say, they will only increase the price match once the order has been received by you, I'm one of the lucky ones that are still on back order.
They asked for the screenshot and then gave me the ticket number to reach back to them about.
Hopefully I get the new phone before 2023

If you didn't, then make sure you claim the reference id for the trade in value and not the 5%. I think the trade in difference is going to be a lot more for most people.
If you already claimed the 5%, then you might be out of luck. I think their system doesn't allow for customer service to give more than one discount or price match per order. Doesn't hurt to try, but I wouldn't be too hopeful.
