But there are "free" scooters littered everywhere in my city, sidewalks private property, streets alleys.

(but seriously though, how is that even legal to use everyone else's space as your storage without permission, fee or fine, and yet still retain ownership?)

Not sure where you live but in my city they had to make a deal with the local city government to be allowed to operate. I don't live in the city so not sure how much of a nuisance they end up being.

With gas now averaging $5 a gallon, let's see if people will buy these to commute to work (if it's a short commute)

Many states now allow them to use bicycle lanes even though they aren't human powered, I have mixed feeling about that, please be careful how you overtake cyclists.

But also, for what little it is worth to beg, please consider wearing a helmet.

If you've never fallen hard, or been hit by someone looking down at their phone, consider yourself very lucky as you will have no control over how much the next six months of your life are going to suck. At least you'll be alive, without a helmet maybe not so much or at least not outside a coma.

You might be alive. Or paralyzed. Or dead. Helmets save lives, sure, but moving quickly is dangerous no matter what, and even more so on a road.

They are surprisingly heavy. And have alarms when moved.

But you should be paid a storage fee for the time it's on your property, they know where it is because gps via cell ping.
