I keep my impact wrench in my car (emergency purposes) with the battery attached to the tool, battery is at full capacity and it's been sitting in the trunk all winter…
I have a few Ridgid drivers and drills. I had my first battery die after about 8 years. I called them up, she said a replacement was on the way, got it in a week.

The kicker was when she said don't forget to re-register the NEW battery. The fact that they have a Lifetime Warranty in my eyes is incredible. I had no idea the replacement battery would have the same benefits. And they are great tools!

I nearly did as well! That's how I stumbled across this deal — I was checking in to buy it at $200, since that price looked pretty good. $30 cheaper? Even better!

This is a great deal, but youd be better served to get the subcompact hammer drill kit for 129 and the subcompact impact driver kit for 99. Its a little bit more, but you get 3 batteries and a hammer drill. Anyway...thats what i did.

the 129 subcompact drill/driver kit seems to be for the R8701 which is the same (non-hammer) one in the $169 kit (R8711B seems to be the model no. for the subcompact hammer). maybe I'm not just not seeing it. could you post a link?

My fault. The hammer drill kit looks like its $179 now. Not sure when they changed it, but i picked it up for $116 (10% military discount) two days ago (monday). Looks like the sale on that one ended. ☹☹Sorry about that. Anyway, the kit is R8711K.

I really wish they would put the LEDs around the driver again. I'm wanting to switch to RIGID but I keep waiting for the better LED placement.

Yes it matters. I truly do work a lot in the dark and I've used both and the LED in the handle is borderline useless.

I've been waiting on this to go on sale. I already have the big octane hammer drill but would rather have this little one for most things.

Don't buy, these tools have a battery eating bug. If you leave the battery on the tool, it will drain the battery.

I haven't noticed the battery eating issue on mine. I've had a set for a couple years.

This is a solid idea. What attachments/accessories do you keep in there with it?

Think about a starter for my son. I have Ridgid, but wondering if this is a good set to begin with. Any thoughts? Thanks.

For those that can afford to spend more, consider this deal with a 2ah and 4ah Max bats. Add an impact wrench deal to it to make a really nice kit. Some one mentioned the hammer/Drill being larger than a drill, this hammer/drill is the newer one that is smaller and lighter. And this is the newer recip saw, not the Octane version, that is also lighter and cuts faster.

Been using Ridgid tools for years and never had an issue. Maybe when you leave the bat on the tool you place the tool in such aa way that the trigger is being pressed.
