If you get the circular saw and do set to pickup at different store it splits the cost in two perfectly so that the drill and driver + batteries and bag are only to $74.50.

In my opinion both are great for home use. You sort of have to predict what the future holds for you.

Makita makes nice tools. Ridgid makes nice tools. The 12v makita is a pretty limited line, so if you ever want to get other tools you'd likely be looking at a different battery eco-system.

The ridgid 18v line has a boatload of different tools that all can run on the batteries that come with that kit. 2ah batts are pretty small, but it opens the door to a lot of future options .

Personally I've always wanted a 12v drill set because of the small size and convenience and would work for 90% of the jobs around the house, but have had a hard time justifying redundant tools or different brand batteries.

Disclosure: I am deep into the ridgid 18v eco-system so maybe some confirmation bias. I do have Makita corded tools for their quality.

Nice deal!

Back in 2018, I got the brushless impact/drill/bag set for $130 after a Home Depot battery pack "hack".

This deal being $150 for 3 tools plus batteries is a great deal IMO. Plus the Lifetime service agreement on everything

But when you go pick them up, can you only pick one and still be $74.50?

Would it be worth it to keep the Right-angle Drill (free tool)?

How do these Rigid compare to Milwaukee 12v Fuel? or even 18v Fuel?

Are you saying if the free tool is not pick up, the total charge is only 74.50?

It depends on the store clerk, my order was cancelled and reprocessed with a new order once in front of me during pickup. So now I pick up both, walk to my car to put one item and then walk back to the store to return what I don't need.

Yeah you can also pickup and return what you don't want, there is also an even cheaper set with just the drill and 2 batteries in another thread and same free gifts for 99$

As someone not power tool savvy would this or the Makita deal posted below be better for home use?

Glad I waited, $161 after tax for the drill, impact driver and reciprocating saw with 2 batteries and a bag, plus lifetime warranty to boot. I was going to do the $80 ebay refurb deal on the Makita drill/impact driver set, but new w/lifetime warranty is hard to beat at this price point. Plus these are brushless 18V and the Makita were 12V.

Anyway, thanks!

On the surface, the Makita is 12v only, brushed? and refurbished. Ridgid is new, brushless, 18v (more power?) and has lifetime warranty. Ridgid is also cheaper after the hack.
I didn't look up the power or weight specs.
Weight and size might be a wash. Ridgid is subcompact and Makita is 12v.
