I use moab 2 for my hikes and had 1 pair that fell apart after probably 80 miles one season. I returned them and got a second pair assuming the first was just a dud… happy to say I've gotten 2 solid seasons of hiking on the second pair and they're holding up really well.

It seems to be a problem with hiking footwear all around, as I have friends who have spent 200-300 on higher end hiking boots from other brands and had to exchange them after 1-2 hikes due to them falling apart. General story is that they had better luck on the second or third pair. I won't buy hiking shoes from anywhere that doesn't have a generous return or exchange policy as a result.

Loved their stuff years ago, but quality really went down hill.

I had to return a pair of the Men's Moab 2 Decon Mid's. The sole had some weird shape to it. Can't explain it, just not comfortable for me.

Reviews aren't the best for the shoes but the price is right. Colors are very sandy or dirt looking.

Not durable, will fall apart. I guess for $65 you can consider them disposable? Wouldn't use for serious hiking. Maybe for walking the dog.

What's it look like when it falls apart

I've had issues with hiking shoes as well. Problem is usually the stitching. It usually fails at a flex point. Since these shoes are all cemented construction. The adhesives will fall and the sole will separate from the outsole. I still buy merrell's because I haven't found anything else in that price range that's as comfortable and comparatively well made. But I am looking which shows how my brand loyalty has gone. I've bought Merrell's for probably about 15 years

Sad. Sounds like quality has really dropped. Used to make great hiking shoes

I have been a fan of hi-tec but also experienced quality issues mostly the sole pealing off due to cement failure. When I get a deal I buy a few. I pulled a pair out that had been sitting for like 4 years and the soles pretty much fell off the first time I used them. Can fix with CA glue... I think the issue is when we get these deals they are pushing out old inventory and the glue fails when they are old

I walk/light hike about 15 miles a day and I have not found a light hiker that last more then a season. Do you think these will last a season? (Edit: I am planning to walk a marathon in December so I will up my miles soon)

So the trick is buy a pair and they fall apart and when you return them you get a good pair? Hmm, ok

Try LOWA boots. I have put hundreds of miles on mine over the years and they have held up great. Best boot i have ever owned. May be a little pricey, but its an investment. A pair of bad hiking boots can do a lot of damage on a long hike.

How is the width on these? I usually need a 4e in any given sneaker.
