A&P (Aviation) Mechanics use speed handle all the time. Especially when opening up panels on wings/airframe for lubrication or inspection jobs etc.. it can range from 10 to couple hundreds screws depending on the job...(We try to avoid using power tools for any fasteners because its not worth the risk and time to strip them and then have to replace them)
You really have to look at the pawl design to make such a conclusion. Yes, 90 teeth are finer than 84, which are finer than 70, but some designs (which may include Gearwrench) engage more teeth at one time. So, even though the teeth are finer, the pawl design may be designed so that many more teeth are engaged at one time thereby making it actually stronger that many designs with a lower tooth count mech.

Also, for the naysayers and nonbelievers, there is a lifetime warranty. So, you have little risk in the end, anyway.

Seems like a great kit.. Not sure do anyone still use speed handle nowadays. I have been a full time mechanic for over 20 yrs and haven't use one for quite sometime. I can see transmission rebuilder definitely use it daily. Excellent set for someone need a set of extensions and ratchet

I wish they sold the kit without the ratchets.

Some engine builders also use it. I haven't seen anyone else use them.

It's like a million extensions, but why fixed head ratchet someone that deep in the game has like 30 of those already.

Why 90T? Aren't fine-tooth ratchets much easier to break? While one might argue that the load is distributed across multiple surfaces. screw theory teaches that only 3 threads actually carry the load.

I use it to remove burs or clean up threads with a tap on it. Only other use is in aircraft parts that restrict the use of electronic tools. I think most people keep them for sentimental reasons and have fond memories using them on valve covers, oil pans, and old school construction.

my favorite ratchet is an old snapon flex head curve handle, gear wrench makes a 90th equivalent that they call a spark plug ratchet, but the handle is much longer. The bent handle on a flex head simulates a speed handle, and the curve helps with clearance without needing a big flex head angle affecting the applied torque.

Well rounded set for those that need fine toothed 3/8 ratchets and extensions.
One thing to keep in mind, some HD reviews from not so long ago last year report they received older 84T ratchets with their sets instead of the advertised 90T.

The gearwrench 90 tooth is actually dual 45 tooth pawls that are slightly offset and engage separately giving it a 90 tooth equivalent swing arc. Anyway, you will most likely break the square drive off the anvil before you strip the gears on these or most ratchets. That's seems to be the most common failure mode outside the ratchets that copied the Proto double pawl design.

Would be nice to have a 1", 1-1/2", or 2" extension, and the flex head ought to be locking. And really, sometime around your fortieth birthday you wake up and own 6-12 different 3/8" ratchets anyway.
