I spoke to a TV repairmen yesterday about OLED televisions. He said he is seeing many where the panel only lasts 4 years and many burn in issues. None of these were covered by warranty. As stated earlier in the thread Sony uses LG panels.

This one is leagues better. OLED is always better than LED.
IT is, unless the person who is buying is watching in a bright room with direct sunlight and uses the VIVID setting. IN that one case, they will NEVER appreciate OLED and will be perpetually complaining about how "dark" the image is.

Only thing I'd say to this is that those must be the 2017 TV models. Technology hopefully improved since

Oh man I've been eyeing this TV. Trying to decide whether to pull the trigger or wait for the new models to come out to see if it drops further.
This TV is great, a pleasure to watch movies on. I have it from the pre-BF deal at Costco. I much prefer it to LG OLED visuals. You need to adjust to custom settings the brightness, but after some time you get used to lesser peak brightness compared to the old school Samsungs for example. It looks very cinematic.
New tech might be some LED-OLED type of combination, i.e. similar to Samsung's QLED with OLED layer on top and microLEDs under. But it is going to be much more expensive. LEDs and micro LEDs are expensive materials. Also, I doubt that SONY will update their CPUs this year's generation, they will probably do it next year. For a meaningful performance/value jump you will need to wait for 2023 October prices and models.
I doubt this will drop any further, if something makes it to clearance prices - maybe, but at that point usually there is no inventory. For this model, a sale price is around $2k, at this $1800 it is a clearance at Costco. I think BuyDig has/had it as a "refurbished" for $1400 recently. That's a deal but you take risk missing the warranty

VRR now enabled on these.

I'm hoping for a 55" deal but wish Costco carried them.
It's enabled, but still has issues, HDMI 2.1 ports won't go full RGB if your gaming with PC and limited with 120hz console gaming.

I got the 77 inch A80CJ from Costco back in November and it's amazing. 2 HMDI 2.1 ports with one for ARC and now it has VRR. I use it primarily for watching TV and movies. It's fantastic.

I have an LG CX I use for gaming and would recommend the LG for those who have an Xbox Series X or PS5 though, especially if you have both.

I heard with the vrr update if you enable and use vrr the input lag gets worse, anyone else heard this? If so it makes vrr useless for me.

What do you think about sports on this? I have a 11-year-old Samsung LCD that was top of the line but it's on its last legs. I mostly watch sports, TV and movies. Don't game at all. My room is not overly bright either.

I found this helpful. I'm going with the LG C1 all things equal:

Not showing full color spectrum and not displaying 4K 120hz content properly when using newer HDMI 2.1 gpus for PC and console gaming. Check out the owners thread on avforums.com. There are a couple of testers videos on YouTube as well.
