Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it
Some people don't live in a house.
Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

Is it not possible to return the Tablet and keep the plan? This would only be done in an effort to try and get the auto pay to stick on TI plan, otherwise would just pickup the TI sim in store/on phone. And would rather spend $425 on that S7 TMO LTE (or $330 for S7FE) frontpage deal (plus $50 in Hunnee money back), than risk $200 on a tablet I don't want (especially if $5 doesn't stick)

Would be more confident in keeping the A7 Lite (even as a loss) if the auto pay showed up and stayed on my account into next billing period
Returning the tablet may incur a restocking fee. You will need to call them to ask. but it is possible to return it as reported here.

Tmobile Customer service/sale verified over the phone that FREE tablet promo work with TI plan but you have to activate with TE first. She placed my order over the phone with TE plan, then change it to TI next days. She told me she did many of these last couple days. ^.^
That's what my rep told me as well, signed me up for TE and then switched it to TI. Once she did that I got a text that said my EIP was cancelled, but then the next morning got another text that my EIP was applied.

If the taxes for the tablet wasn't so much, I'd think about doing it. Just for an free tablet, but screw it. I don't think the tablet is worth it anyway.

If you had a legitimate business, that would be a write-off. Just sayin'.

If you add the tablet and the TI plan, you will see something like this,

Your monthly bill
Estimated after savings: $13.34
Your bill before savings : $18.34
Multi-line discount : -$0.00
AutoPay discount -$5.00

After paying $8.34 per month for 2 years, your monthly bill before saving would be $10. Then after the AutoPay discount, that would be $5. So for long term, TI will be better. Here is the total cost for a 10-year period,

TI plan :
$13.34*12*2 + $5*12*8 = 800.16

TE plan assuming a total tax and fees of $2.34 per month:
$7.34*12*10 = 880.8

Here is the cost for a 50-year period,

TI plan:
$13.34*12*2 + $5*12*48 = 3200.16

TE plan assuming a total tax and fees of $2.34 per month,
$7.34*12*50 = 4404

You will be saving a lot more as times goes by

Not sure how your calculation works but a simpler way is just calculate tax over 10 years. $2.34 * 120 = $276...

I agree, but it seems those other two are trying to get the auto pay $5 more than anything else.

Beyond that, I hate when it gets messy. Doesn't the TMO "system" auto correct itself, eventually? i.e. if you open a new line when "free add a line" is valid, you don't see it anywhere, but eventually it shows up on your account, even if you did the deal at Costco, where they had no possible way to click on "free line"? Seems like even though rep promised it, the credits could auto correct to. . .gone. That's the TE order to rep corrected TI conversion (that's for keeping the Tablet credits). Then there's the $5 autopay, which really shouldn't apply to either (yes I know, the TE plan doesn't exclude the autopay in terms). . .but for sure shouldn't apply once the plan is converted to TI. I've seen some funny stuff work with TMO and sprint, but those other two need to take it down a notch or two, and quit being so snobby. They have no proof their plan will work, only theories. Hope it works out for them. Will probably be a fight in the end. Done it before, just don't think I would spend the effort on this one. . .

Here's another data point for no autopay on either tablet promo plan. When you go to the "Choose a Tablet Plan" page, the one that gives you the 10 choices of plans, look above the "Magenta Business Tablet" plan. There will be a little popup stating "Total Autopay Savings: -$5.00/mo."

This is there for any of the above 8 plans, but disappears whenever either of the two promo plans on the bottom are chosen.

Autopay isn't included with either promo plan.

For the TI plan, you also need to pay for the device, which is free if you go with the TE plan. so it is not that simple as you think

I asked them on Twitter and they wrote that TI plan does qualify with free tablet. I am attaching screenshot.

Yes, agreed. But you cannot choose TI and get the device free online or over the phone as reported here,

There is an extra step to do in order to get the device free with the TI plan

That link states that you DO get it via phone but not online (which is also my experience).

Yes, true, but you have to "activate with TE first."
