Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

Yes, I just set "Default Voice Line" to my business tablet line in my iPhone settings. I can call out and receive calls using the tablet phone # just fine.
Is yours data line?
The store might add cell plan instead of tablet plan by mistake.
Check you account if you really have data line.

I have the tax inclusive (TI) tablet line and finally decided to contact T-Force via twitter today to add the HDPass to the line. Got shot down by T-Force just now with "Our systems are updated often and we are no longer able to add features that are not eligible to the plan you are on. To have this feature you would need to be on the Magenta Business Tablet Plus plan."

So then I called in to 611 from my phone and the (consumer side, US-based) phone rep added the pass with very little issue (with text confirmation that HD Video is added or rather "purchased").

He is obviously lying, he doesn't want to share usage details if he is correct.

I can confirm that when you first add the TI line, iPhone or iPad will show cellular plan as "Magenta Bus Tab 10GB Promo" but when you get HD Pass added, cellular plan will show as "HD Video"

Can you make sure those aren't facetime calls, clearly terms and conditions says no voice and i have tried in android(Don't have iphone).

If possible check usage details for calls. and share the screenshot
Yeah, I don't think voice calls work on this. "Phones" are so complicated these days people aren't sure if they're using phone or data.

Speeds are highly dependent on location.

All Magenta plans are capped at 480p (or roughly 2.5Mbps) without an HD pass. The HD pass removes this cap and institutes a new cap for the equivalent of 1080p (around 6-8Mbps).

If anyone else is experiencing greater speeds, they're likely not accounting for the fact that those streams are *not* video streams. Anything other than video (such as running a speed test on Speedtest.net) will run at full speed, whatever that happens to be.
Does HD Pass impact tethered speeds or if you're on VPN? I don't get how T-Mobile is able to tell what data goes regular speed and what data to slow down. If I have a phone in hotspot mode can the attached devices get full speed whether it's video or not? What if I have a rooted phone and I'm doing USB tether - does the HD Pass gain any benefits?

I am on the TI plan; called TMo Biz today and the person on the line easily added the HD Pass for me for both my tablet lines. I immediately got a text message confirming it and speed was about twice as fast as before.
So they added the HD Pass for free? I'm also wondering what you mean your speed is twice as fast as before. Like you just googled speedtest and used one of the speedtest links and it was twice as fast as what you were getting before HD Pass? Curious what kind of speeds you're getting.

I keep seeing this HD Pass being mentioned in the thread. What does it do exactly? When I do a speed test, I'm getting 60+Mbps, so that's pretty fast. I don't think I have HD Pass. Is HD Pass only needed for higher data speeds when you're on VPN?
If you turn off you VPN and go watch a video on YouTube, if you have the video quality set to Auto, you will notice it's only giving you 480p quality. Adding the HD Pass to your account will bump that up to 1080p quality. Netflix actually has a speed test you can go to, which you've probably seen mentioned here as Fast.com. With VPN turned off, you will get roughly 2.5mbps, but with HD Pass, you will get roughly 7mbps. Of course, with VPN turned on, you will bypass T-Mobile's streaming video throttling, so the speed on VPN wouldn't be affected by whether you have HD Pass or not.

They can tell what is video and what is not by the data packets. That's why HD Pass doesn't affect your speeds when you're on VPN.

A regular speed test only tests your overall speed. Only the Fast.com speed test shows what your video streaming speed will be. On VPN, a regular speed test and a Fast.com speed test will be show same results, because your VPN is hiding the data packets from T-Mobile, so they don't know you are streaming video.

So the person you quoted probably had 2.5mbps results on Fast.com before they added the HD Pass, and now they are getting 7mbps.

I tried to add HD Pass about a month ago on Twitter but was denied. Tried to get it added over the phone twice, also failed. I came back to this thread yesterday and saw few people were able to get it added via Twitter, so I tried again and luckily got it added just in a few minutes. Thanks guys! ...and Cellular Plans on iPhone now shows as "HD Video".

The deal still seems to be working...interestingly when I went through a T-Mobile for business site to add a line with the tablet, it didn't end up showing up but using the link through SD, it does work and the plan does show up

Does your online account tell you whether you have HD Pass or not? I'm able to get 720p on youtube. But I never signed up for HD Pass.

BTW, when you got HD Pass, it was free? It didn't increase your bill any?

No, my business account online doesn't show anything different than before adding HD Pass. I can tell it was added based on the speed test with fast.com and the HD Video name under Cellular Plans on my iPhone. I don't expect my bill to increase, it should be free based on discussion in this thread. I will find out in three weeks when I get my next bill.

In case it helps others: I just sent a private message via Twitter @TMobileBusiness and asked to add HD Pass to my two lines. Took five minutes or so and they got it done. Well worth the five minutes spent. Never had a T-Mobile account before, but loving it so far! Esp. enjoying my free MLB.tv. Smilie

My iPad doesn't show it (apparently some models do), but the SIM does when thrown into an iPhone. Additionally, when logging in on the app (consumer/personal side of things), it's listed on the line under "Active Add-Ons" (Account at the bottom > select line in question > Plan Details at the top.) Also, tapping HD Video shows this text: "HD passes are no longer needed. HD video provided via PlusUp features. See Media Settings in our Profile to enable HD."

The web site doesn't show anything for HD Video.
