Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

Who tried usb tethering to router? What's your max speed? Plan to invest a home internet alter
I have two SIMs, both in 4G LTE phones.

I have one tethered to a GL.iNet Slate router, with VPN running on the router. I get about 7 Mbps there, limited by the router's processing capability for VPN encryption/decryption.

I have the other tethered to a 10-year-old Windows laptop, which then shares the connection with a TP-Link Deco router. VPN runs on the Windows laptop. I get about 40 Mbps there, which is the max 4G LTE speed at my location. This is a great home internet setup, IMHO.

The screen on it is atrocious enough to not keep it even for free. It's disgusting Samsung is making a 720P laptop in 2022 and trying to sell it for $400 MSRP. Had to return mine
I just cannot EVER go back to a 720p screen... yuck!

It's very bad lol. The problem with the screen is not only the 720P resolution, it's also the washed-out colors and poor viewing angles. I got a headache just by looking at it.

If you open biz account with your SSN, you need to sign up your T-Mobile ID at regular T-Mobile site. That's what the agent told me via Twitter. They said they don't really consider biz account with SSN as a business account, but it does get business plans and promo.
That makes sense as my account was converted to "business" and is just based on my SSN (shows up as business/sole-proprietor) so it also seems you can mix personal and business plans and manage everything on the personal site. The only side-effect I've seen so far is that I have to call in for some things instead of doing it on the web site.

Grab a used m2000 Inseego router and have Rich Hathaway patch the FW and load a customer iemi. On mine, I'm pulling average 650mbps down and 40mbps up. All data shows as device data and the iemi reports to tmobile as a tablet.... Win/win.

P.S. The m2000 is tethered my Asus RT-AX82U. Works like a charm....

Does the m2000 provide benefits vs. a 5G phone? A phone could be tethered to the Asus router without a firmware mod or IMEI spoofing.

I don't have 5G service at my house, so I just have an old 4G phone tethered to my router. Just wondering if a device like the m2000 might provide me any benefit in terms of bandwidth or anything else.

Just went to a T-Mobile store and they could not find this plan under business plans for tablet, showed them all this info and they told they don't have it, or they world know, did anyone run into this issue?

At my store they didn't know anything about it and seemed sure that no unlimited plan for $10 existed. But as soon as I told them I had the SOC (ZB10HSTI), they were able to look it up without a problem.

I guess that's a personal decision..... For me having the flexibility, benefits and convenience of the m2000 is why I went that way.... If you have a spare 5g phone great..... If not, investment wise cost will be about the same, hence my decision to go the m2000 route.

For what you'd need with a tmobile SIM, you'd be looking @ $150.

Cool, didn't intend to disparage your decision. Just genuinely curious about these hotspot devices. One of the big things you're buying with a hotspot is WiFi routing, but it sounds like you're not using that, as you tether yours to an Asus router. Like you, I'd rather choose my own WiFi setup (TP-Link Deco mesh, for example) than be limited by the hotspot's capability.

So if we're not using the hotspot's WiFi router functionality, it seems like the hotspot is like a phone, except it doesn't have a screen and it requires jumping through some hoops to make it work with a tablet plan (custom firmware, IMEI spoofing).

I didn't know if something about the 4G / 5G reception hardware (number of antennas, antenna power) might give the hotspot an edge over a phone in terms of bandwidth or signal reliability. Sounds like you didn't choose it for those reasons though.

Thanks for your reply!
