Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it
Some people don't live in a house.
Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

So the quanta definitely uses hotspot data and not the unlimited tablet allocation when using the activated tablet sim from the $10 plan. That's too bad. Now I have to pay $30 restocking fee to return the device and cancel the line. Ugh.
That's not unexpected to be honest, see if you can tether USB and fix the TTL so it shows as on device data.

There may also be a way that is not public yet to update the rules on the device so you don't need to USB tether, same thing happened with the TMOHS1.

I think the main thing is that this is supposed to be a fast 5G device at reasonable price, since the sim works on the device and it connects to the network that's perfect, unlike it not working at all on the m2000 without a paid hack.

There is no public script for the quanta for us noobs. Guess I'm eating the $30 restocking fee.

On what 5g device? The M6 & M6 pro is sold out on att and the older M5 is $$$
Even might be worth keeping the line for 4G. IIRC, someone said the Netgear LM1200 worked.

Are you guys signing up the plan now by calling 800 numbers or go to local corporate store ? I just tried the 800 # and i got transferred around. 1st to technical dept then to cs then to activation. i told the rep in activation dept multiple times that i wanted to open business account. he then grabbed my info, address, ssn, my cc and the soc code of the plan. Then told me that he couldnt find the plan in the regular t-mobile account system? Seriously ? was that guy deaf or something ? Finally he apologized and told me go to local corporate store to sign up for biz account

WTF lol

Main thing is it taking your unlimited on device data allocation, or the 10gb hotspot allocation you can burn thru hotspot data to test if no slowdown after 10 12 gb means it's on device unlimited..if system detects its not tablet it usual will use up hotspot then it's gonna be crawling slow

well i wouldnt be able to test it till i get my biz account setup. so far i tested it with my regular voice and mi lines. i read another post where the other guy bought the same m2100 and ran it through mango router and he burned through 30gb without slowing down.

That's me. I didn't look to see what T-Mobile recognized my device as, and I didn't try to just use wifi hotspot data without the Mango router for long periods of time.

yea its you indeed lol. im following your steps. i wonder if i can run usb-c to the asus ac1900 router and get by the hotpot limit. i have att mobley plan inside netgear m1 hotspot and its been working great with asus ac1900 router. if i can get m2100 and tmobile $10 plan to do the same, i might just cancel the att since im getting faster speed with tmobile right now. my previous house had better att signal and i was pulling 100mb down over 4g. right now its giving me up to 20mb down at the new house.

i did test the att mobley sim in m2100 hotspot and got the same 20mb down. i guess rumor is true that mobley plan doesnt do 5g

by the way, do you know how to look up which lte band your m2100 is connecting to ? think i saw someone mentioned it on their m2000 hotspot.

I'm guessing the Asus should work just fine with USB-C tethering to get past the on-hotspot 10GB limit. There were others on this thread that used other routers (besides the Mango), phones, and laptops and went past the 10gb limit when tethered via USB. There weren't too many others (maybe just you and me?) that have gone with the M2100 route. My main reasons: 1) I am also using Verizon, so the M2100 is great for me to swap between Verizon and T-Mobile, and 2) I've done the rooting/custom firmware route in the past, and it's just more trouble than I want right now, especially when there are software updates; I just want simple plug and play at this point in my life. Smilie

I don't know which bands are being used. I think Rich H may be one of the few people that can tell based on getting to the log files written to the device.
