The multiple ways of using this $10 line for home internet are:
1. T-Mobile Gateway + Cudy N300 or X6 which are wifi only routers to mask hotspot usage with TTL set on the external wifi router. You can use other wifi routers for this purpose but there's a menu page in the Cudy routers which makes setting TTL easy - Courtesy waterchange
1.1 Cudy router like Cudy LT500 or LT18 or the 5G P8 work as a single device with modem + wifi router. Work well for home internet. Nice thing about the Cudy modems is easy TTL (and imei magic if necessary). - Courtesy waterchange
2. M2100 hotspot device - Hit or a miss - native out of the box but less reliable
3. Orbic 5G hotspot device - more reliable than the m2100, however some people have reported throttling after 1st couple of months
4. Gateway + Project Genesis - works most reliably
5. TMOHS1 - ~ 30-50 mbps out of the box, no TTL update required
6. Tmobile Franklin - ~30-50 mbps with TTL update - the most reliable as of right now, however limited speed.
7. M2000 won't pull data from anywhere.
8. GL.iNET Spitz GL-X3000NR easier to use than Cudy and better performance but expensive. Great form factor and performance. Presets for T-Mobile TTL settings and advanced cell features like tower/band lock. External antennas.
9. M3000B works out of the box with T-Mobile version. Has battery preservation features and ethernet port. Some users say to switch 5G mode to NSA if the hotspot restarts frequently in your area.
Add/update if you have more/better info.

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)
Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.
So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it
soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

I don't need 5G. I use this to stream while I'm driving (iPad with Waze) and use Directv Stream for TV when I'm on the road in hotels. Their requirements are pretty low. Under 6Mb I think to get HD video. I would like Band 71 though as it's very important with Tmobile to penetrate buildings. At least for voice. Not sure about data only. Where I live, if you don't have Band 71, you're not getting phone calls with Tmobile. We're near a creek with limited cell towers for all providers.
Thanks again for the info! You definitely saved me some cash! Rep'd.

If you're just using it to stream, you will get the exact same speeds whether you use 4g or 5g since streaming is throttled. You will definitely need the get HDVPASS0 feature added for HD streams. It's free, but it seems like it's a little tricky to get it added. I was able to using the chat feature on the tmobile business site (same site I bought the tablet plan). I thought it was fairly simple to add though.
Called them again, this time about returning the tablets. First rep was quite clueless but she eventually sent me an RMA label. I looked at the RMA and it had no IMEI and listed 1 tablet and 1 sim kit instead of 2 tablets. I called back and this lady sounded like she knew what she was doing. After a long time of waiting she came back and said she emailed me the label. I looked at it and again, only one tablet was listed, no IMEI in the IMEI field. She said she could only generate one label for the order. I suspect it is because the first rep generated a return label as well, and there were only two tablets in the order. I asked her if I should use the old label for one tablet and the new label for the other, and she said no-- send them both back in same shipping box/label using new label. Of course I got notification from them this weekend that one of my EIPs has been fulfilled/voided, but nothing about the other one. Now I've got to wait 7 days while they investigate. hahahaha
Then I go to use my ebay m2100, and the guy sent a m2000 instead! We went back and forth and I agreed to keep it for a discounted price and figured I could keep it as a backup and use the battery / door from it on one of those battery/door-less m2100's on ebay, so I ordered one of those. I messed around with the m2000 for a while and learned (from y'all actually) that it doesn't work with this plan at all! Oops. Luckily he still agreed to take it back, but now I've got a battery-less m2100 on the way.
Just a little commiseration for those who wonder how come this crap works out for everyone else-- it's not so smooth for all of us.

1. Remove the SIM.
2. Check the firmware.
If the older firmware, you're good to:
--- Root the device
--- Change the self update to NO.
--- Update the TTL file to have 64 or 128
--- Go into the engineering and change for IMEI to match the tablet.
If the firmware is the latest, I think it is junk.
Search "T9" on this thread for more details, too.
Or just get a free hotspot. But the IMEI cannot be changed, so YMMV.

NOTE: my 4G/LTE hotspot data speed has been hit or miss surprisingly as these devices are TMo. Before with Visible SIM, I could see spotty coverage as the device was using Verizon towers. Now, I am surprised using the TMo SIM.
Example (same location):
TMOHS1 4G/LTE hotspot device (TMo plan): <5 mbps.
Hotspot enabled on 5G phone with Visible data plan: 40 mbps.
I ended up using my phone's hotspot for streaming. I will still use the hotspot device when the connection is good, but it has been spotty.

- Business Unlimited Tablet 10GB HS TE - $10.00/line Plus taxes and fees
- Magenta Business Tablet 10GB Promo - $10.00/line
I understand the TE = Tax Exclusive = You have to pay taxes on top.Should I pick the "Magenta Business Tablet 10GB Promo"? Are both unlimited data? I saw someone earlier saying the 10GB was just for 10GB and not unlimited.

Btw, those global iphones won't work for VZ esim, it just refuses the IMEI, but if I put the VZ sim card in it, my 14 pro max works fine, I wonder if I can get it whitelisted somehow (xfinity mobile).
I popped in the tmobile sim to test now that I am in the US again and I immediately got >600mbps, showed 5g UC on my 14 pro max global, so that is pretty cool.
