Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

where do you input this script in the router gui?
Not via GUI. Via SSH.

so do you have to ssh into the router running Merlin to run these scripts? This is hurting my brain but I really want to learn how to do it.

yes, I believe you ssh and install the scripts - then the script runs automatically every time the router is booted - I think you just need to ssh once

but I have not done - I used jffs with something back in the day, I forget what-

It is literally 3 commands via SSH (4 if you count "reboot"). The editor does copy/paste with the mouse. From there on the router will run the script automatically on each reboot

Hack takes about 5 minutes tops. That's a pretty good hourly pay for 5 minutes of work. But I hear you on the wifi issue, the RTAC68U is really subpar. I bought a RTAC86U on Amazon warehouse deals for $71 and have blazing fast wifi now. Just something to consider. I'd run an Asus over a Cudy any day of the week.
I think because mine was originally a T-Mobile TM-AC1900 Cellspot it might require extra work to install Merlin.... https://www.techpowerup.com/forum...st-3876371

No it doesn't. Mine didn't either. Once on Asus FW it's a simple FW update

False. Enable ssh and follow any ttl mod/scripts. But it need to have usb frash drive plug in. /jffs/scripts/script_usbmount.sh
So if I enable SSH on my stock Asus, I can insert a USB thumb drive into the router and use the script provided by user fbueller to set my TTL without having to flash Merlin?

You're right. I must have did that MTD5 step when I converted the router originally. Currently updating to Merlin.

His suggestion is likely correct but it may be easier to just flash to Merlin and do it that way

Just go here, choose your model , go to release folder, download latest, unzip and upload manually through the router interface - do an md5/sha256 check if you want to be safe
https://sourceforge.net/projects/...lin/files/

I'm on Asus WRT-Merlin already and you saw me post like an hour ago with a link that it might be more complicated

Thanks for the suggestion and info. Besides then not having to use the usb flash drive, does Merlin make the scripting any easier then? I've read that you can do the ssh commands via windows as well as some 3rd party software such as putty...... Any suggestions for a noob trying to get this done? 😉

I have not done TTL yet. But if you search the internet, everyone is using Merlin to change TTL , no one is doing it with stock - so there must be a reason. Yes, you use putty to ssh via windows. Other programs can ssh too. I have it on my pc, not sure if putty is there by default or I probably downloaded it awhile ago. Others can likely help you more.
