The multiple ways of using this $10 line for home internet are:
1. T-Mobile Gateway + Cudy N300 or X6 which are wifi only routers to mask hotspot usage with TTL set on the external wifi router. You can use other wifi routers for this purpose but there's a menu page in the Cudy routers which makes setting TTL easy - Courtesy waterchange
1.1 Cudy router like Cudy LT500 or LT18 or the 5G P8 work as a single device with modem + wifi router. Work well for home internet. Nice thing about the Cudy modems is easy TTL (and imei magic if necessary). - Courtesy waterchange
2. M2100 hotspot device - Hit or a miss - native out of the box but less reliable
3. Orbic 5G hotspot device - more reliable than the m2100, however some people have reported throttling after 1st couple of months
4. Gateway + Project Genesis - works most reliably
5. TMOHS1 - ~ 30-50 mbps out of the box, no TTL update required
6. Tmobile Franklin - ~30-50 mbps with TTL update - the most reliable as of right now, however limited speed.
7. M2000 won't pull data from anywhere.
8. GL.iNET Spitz GL-X3000NR easier to use than Cudy and better performance but expensive. Great form factor and performance. Presets for T-Mobile TTL settings and advanced cell features like tower/band lock. External antennas.
9. M3000B works out of the box with T-Mobile version. Has battery preservation features and ethernet port. Some users say to switch 5G mode to NSA if the hotspot restarts frequently in your area.
Add/update if you have more/better info.

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)
Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.
So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it
soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

Download the latest Merlin FW for your Asus router and flash, just like updating your stock FW. Once flashed, enable SSH on your Asus. Then on a PC download and run Putty. This is the program you will use to connect to your Asus router and run the following commands:

Reboot your router and if done correctly all data should be showing as web data on your tmobile business dashboard. This script will work for both the tmobile home internet gateways currently available. Ebay or local CL will be your best bet in sourcing these device...... Just make sure they are not blacklisted. Hope this helps.

The tablet internet plan is the:
Magenta® plans.
5GB of high-speed data in 11 European countries.
Up to 5GB high-speed data in select Central European countries; otherwise, basic speeds approximately 256 Kbps.
KVD21 + Cudy X6 router with TTL set to 66 to avoid the 10Gb hotspot limit works great, average 100+Mbps up/down, up to 300-600Mbps, depending on the PC used, fast-new/slow-older, time of day/night, congestion, server, etc.
Only use Cudy WiFi, 2.4/5Ghz or Cudy ethernet with Cat 6 cables hard wired for data only usage.
Never use the KVD21 WiFi 2.4/5Ghz which is always active, but can connect to it to use the 10Gb hotspot limit as a backup if desired.
The Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router modified and loaded with the latest Fresh Tomato and TTL set to 68 can also be used as posted here by others.
But the Cudy X6 has the TTL setting option in its settings so no router modification is necessary. Very easy.

Thx for the update..... Glad to hear all is working so well on your setup. I went with the Nok5g21 and Asus rt-ax68u, running Merlin w/ custom script to mangle TTL to 66. Can't complain either.....
I've started to play around with the Moto Stylus 5G from the Metro Mobile deal. Ideally looking to tether the Moto to an Asus rt-ax68u via usb utilizing another one of my $10 tablet plans. Will be running Merlin, or possibly Operwrt, both of which I've read a fair amount about lately. If you have any input on getting this setup compiled and running I would most certainly appreciate the input. Thx.

I try to follow the paths of least resistance, and as I said above that's the Cudy X6 AX1800 where the TTL can be set right in the router's settings with no mods/flashes/scripts/etc.
It's available on Amazon for around $65+/-:
https://www.amazon.com/Cudy-WiFi-Router-AX1800-Smart/dp/B089KBTXHR/ref=rvi_sccl_4/140-7334118-752611... [amazon.com]
I think someone here said that he got it on Amazon on Black Friday for around $40.
The next easier path I found is the NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 that can be had pre-owned on eBay for around $25+/- or less, but it requires flashing Fresh Tomato which is a two step flashing process with two different flash files.

Great write-up! Thx......
I initially did grab a Cudy myself and fully agree. The one click TTL option is very nice.....
The Netgear option sounds interesting, and for $25 I think worth my tinkering...... I like having options available depending on certain needs.
I just ordered another Asus rt-ax68u to play with as far as configuring to work via cell phone with these $10 tablet plans. Fingers crossed the info I have gathered works and I can report back with some positive news......
Thx again.

Another test to improve the online speeds is to check each Windows PC for fragmented packets and adjust the MTU size to the number that results in no fragmented packets.
Routers and PCs are usually set to MTU=1500 which is 1472+28.
Checking each connected Win PC's interfaces may help avoid fragmented packets and speed up online speeds.
Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
To calculate the MTU size, find the MTU # that results in no fragmented packets for each interface.
For instance, it may be 1444 not 1472 and it can be set in the command below by adding 28, so if the # is 1444 add 28 = 1472 and set it below.
Change the 1500 below to a number that results in no fragmented packets for the ping. Start with 1472 and decrease by 2 or 10, etc. until you get to the no fragmented packets #.
IF the 1472 # results in no fragmented packets and the MTU size on each of your computer's interfaces is already shown to be 1500 then that's the optimal MTU setting and does not need to be set by the last command below.
If you get this after the ping then the packets are fragmented. (You will get this if use 1500):
Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.
If you get something like this after the ping then the packets are not fragmented (1444 was optimal for this PC):
Reply from 142.250.80.110: bytes=68 (sent 1444) time=40ms TTL=66
ping google.com -f -l 1500
To see the MTU size on your computer's interfaces:
netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces
To set the MTU size of each interface in the PC use the calculated # above and add 28:
netsh int ipv4 set subinterface "Ethernet" mtu=1500 store=persistent
"Wi-Fi"
"Ethernet 2"
"Wi-Fi 2"
"Ethernet"
"Wi-Fi"
"Ethernet 2"
"Wi-Fi 2"
etc.,
are the different interfaces that may exist in the PC and each must be adjusted accordingly.
Checking the MTU size may help in your internet speeds.
