The Series S with Game pass is the best deal in gaming, period.

Good lord. Those exclusive items are going for $40-$80 on eBay, and you could easily sell the controller for $40-$45. That'd reasonably bring the price down to about $200, which is nuts for the kind of emulation/GamePass/Plex machine this is. Anyone thinking of shelling out for an Nvidia Shield right now should consider this deal.

Can't even get $200 for these on Offerup or Facebook anymore. People finally realizing these are a waste of money.

Save up and get the X, you'll thank me later.
I don't see a single one of these consoles being sold for less than $250 in the Austin, TX area. Your area may be an anomaly.

Im not an xbox guy but bought the console for retro emulation. It works fine but heads up:

Controller batteries are not rechargeable. You will beed to buy those separately or use disposable batteries in 2022.
You used to Playstation then? Xbox controllers have used AA batteries since the 360. They make rechargeable AA batteries, which I highly recommend and use throughout my house.

On the other hand, almost all of my PS3 controllers (and one PS4 controller already) wont take a charge anymore and are effectively bricks until I decide to go to through the painstaking process of replacing the non-standard battery packs, or run a cable 10 feet from the TV which keeps getting disconnected.

For your power issue, I assume you are hitting the power button on the console? If so, try holding in the Xbox button on the controller, and a menu will come up for 'shut down console'. It sounds like something is waking up your console.

This thing is great for normal people but (as you can see from this thread) it's a travesty if you're a obsessive GaMeR who has intense FOMO over the thought of not having the most powerful current video game system or if you're a flipper who has gotten used to making bank off the scarcity of consoles. I have a Series X in the living room but I'm tempted to pick one of these up for my office to play a little Game Pass every now and then.

I grew up with Nintendo and Playstation. So mostly into Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy from the 90s.

Thanks for sharing your experience with controller charging. I always thought Microsoft was being cheap with the batteries but that (longevity) is actually an excellent reason to have replaceable batteries.

The power issue is not too common but has happened to several others on reddit. I hold the X button then choose "turn off console". Some with this problem ppl say they unplugged power for 10mins, tried diff outlet, installed a certain headset driver, etc. This is too much work for me. I just hold the power button on the console for a few seconds to turn it off. Inconvenient but w/e. Gamecube and ps1 and dreamcast games make it worth it

Exclusive Items? Its just digital currency for Fortnite and Rocket League worth $10 each.

Its not a code either, its attached to the console itself via the serial number. You cannot resell the code because there is no code to sell.

You can probably get at least $30 for the controller though

I have both and this is a fantastic deal. The only frustrating thing about this console is the disk space. This has just about enough room for warzone/Cold War/ vanguard and that's it. 4K gaming is not really a thing yet, high end pc's struggle to pump out higher frame rates at 4K, I honestly don't even notice a difference between this and my series x. We're still in a performance 1440p era. Extreme value here for $300.
I think this is what a lot of people are not quite understanding. The Series X is better and more future-proof, but the vast majority of people are not going to notice much of a difference in quality/performance.

The hard drive space limitations are offset by so much of the game pass library being available to stream via cloud gaming. It works well if you have a good internet connection.

What a great deal. I am tempted to purchase another just to have a spare one around. I have an X and a PS5 but the S is what I use daily as I bring it to the office and hook it up via HDMI to my 32 inch monitor. It looks and plays great. I have also brought the S on numerous trips (vacay and business) and hook it up to a portable monitor.. again looks and plays fantastic. I don't care for storage space as I only play NBA2K22 and now WWE so I am more than satisfied to be able to play Next Gen on the go. The portability of this console is fantastic.

this thing is junk. last gen hardware for new gen money. should be $200 max. no disk drive either, you're stuck with only digital games. when you are done with the game you are playing, you can't sell it or trade it in. whatever advantages consoles have over gaming PCs, this thing has none of them.

it would be worth buying if had the same compute power to the series x. if you have an older xbox, just stick with that. ignore that this exists.

This is far from the truth. They are actually hard to find. Walmart is known to sit on supply for months before releasing them. I live in tucso. Arizona and the series x has been out of stock here and in phoenix almost immediately
How is it far from the truth lol ok if you can't buy in the store then ORDER ONLINE. Like I said YOU can BUY a series x RIGHT NOW off Walmart with a $13 WM+ membership so there is zero excuse of not getting one if YOU really want one. If a person can't afford an extra $13 then they shouldn't be paying $500+ for a system. So like I said if a person really wants a Xbox series X they are SITTING ON WALMART lol the comment I replied too, he said it was HARD to get a series x & I replied back that it wasn't. For over a year yes they were hard too get but not anymore.

Yes the series s and x were both released at the same time. The x is just the more powerful of the two.

If you do the twitter alerts, the Xbox Series X can be found at select locations using order online for pick-up instore/curbside. At the last restock at Target, Xbox Series X was available for 30 minutes. PS5 still sells out in under a few minutes though.

Are old Xbox One S and X controllers compatible with the Series S and X?
