I don't know what experience that last poster had, but man, I love my two Staub dutch ovens (4 quart and 12.75 quart - that one is a beast!). I also have one Le Creuset 7.25 quart oven - I love them all, but probably give a slight edge to Staub for two reasons: First, I like the dimples on the lid, which redirects water back into the dish (I've poured water from the lid on my Le Creuset onto my arms a few times over the years). Second, I kind of prefer their slight matte finish on the inside to the smooth enamel on the Le Creuset. Either way, these are stellar pots and great prices! Also, I don't know what that poster means about 'made in China'. These pots are made in France...

I bought one from the last sale, and after looking it over with a fine-tooth comb, all I could find was one tiny "ping" on the outside smaller than a pinhead. It came in original packaging, and even had the cute little colors of France ribbon on the knob. Well worth it to get a high-end piece of cookware that should last a lifetime for half price.

Same with All-Clad. But I've seen people buy non-returnable All-Clad pans and get warped lids and such. I don't think it's common with All Clad or Staub, but it's unknowable, and who cares if you are the one who gets stuck. "It should be alright" but if you are the one that gets a lemon, it's infuriating because this stuff is not cheap.

I got the 4 quart for $99 a few black fridays ago, new, returnable. I don't know if that will be back (didn't see it last BF).

This all said, the 5.75 qt for $150 is very tempting to me. Skipping it because I've bought too many goodies lately, and F* the blemished/non-returnable combo. I'll wait it out. Its not critical for me to have a 5.75 qt, but honestly, won't probably see that again at $150. I rarely skip anything because i've already spent too much, but damn, bought so much stuff since last BF.

For what it's worth, I had the same experience and am very happy with it. Still no guarantee that it'll be flawless, though.

Grabbed a cast iron frying pan for $99. So far these have been basically flawless in the past. I can't find the imperfections on my other staub products.

Are you for real? They say not to feed the trolls. But man, keep it factual. Staub is made in France. Like your great Aunt Camille, who is smoking hot btw.

Smoking hot? Pics please. 😂

OP, great find. Good cookware is so expensive (at least I think so) but you buy it once and pass it on (mom didn't get the memo unfortunately). Thanks OP and now to decide if my kids are worthy.

I've had the expensive ones and then bought this one below, and it's been flawless (bought in 2018 use all the time)... And it's like $65:

edit: sorry you missed the deal, price has increased from $96 to $210!

Modern euro version on Amazon ships free from their U.K store $96.18. Not having a pour spout allows the 24 cm oven lid to seal tight for shallow braising and reheating. Sur La Table has a deeper version in their warehouse sale for $120. Both are premium models with beechwood handles that don't get hot, lighter due to thinner sidewalls and hard to find in U.S. First quality, full warranty.

Is that enameled?

Yes, they both are. The Sur La Table deep one with helper handle is Vintage series. It is closer to the orig release 24 cm which I purchased about 2000. Mine has super tough enamel that has not chipped. With optional thin film seasoning performed like regular c.i. it becomes super slick, eggs glide right out. Just wipe clean. Can't say what the current enamel is like. I leave the handle off mine so I can use it in the oven and for storage reasons. Do Staub seconds carry warranty? Enamel flaking is very rare but possibly a reason to buy the euro as new first quality instead.

These are good prices. I have the 7 qt braiser. Got it for $150 cuz it turns out it had some blemishes when the item was sold as no blemishes. That was several years ago on amazon.

So yeah, $159 bucks for a 7 quart round in grenadine is a steal. The imperfections on these things are minute. Sometimes they are even on the handle because the enamel didn't flow properly across the handle that has the word Staub on it. All minor stuff.
