Hey Mr Expert,
Please explain how a laptop that's almost 4 times more money is suppose to compare. Back in the good o' days we used compare something that is not only the same thing, like apples and oranges, but they are also about the same price. Obviously there's no grasp of this "about the same price" here, so I'd say roughly 5-10% more or less

i think the lenovo 350.00 USD offer is better than this one

If im not wrong i3 11th gen should be around the same power as i5 10th gen, right?
If you're talking about this one, the i3-1115G4 is better at single thread; i5-1035G1 better at multi-thread. The core count and clock speed are indicative, and benchmarks agree. Same 6MB cache.

However the I3-1125g4 is better by quite a bit. This I5 is more energy efficient at 15 watts not 28 watts but that is the only advantage this old I5 has.

It really depends on what it's used for. For people that run like 60 Chrome tabs at all times, the multi-thread performance in the 1035G1 will have an edge. That's of course assuming people also upgrade the RAM on either laptop (up to 16GB on this Inspiron or 12GB on that Ideapad) to reduce the potential RAM bottleneck.

I got the i3 for this model, came to $389, not counting the 8% cb. I have 4gb sticks sitting around so I guess 12gb ram should be good for my use. But delivery has been delayed for a week now.

If you buy from Dell or a Dell laptop/pc, pray you will never have issues and need to contact them. I bought a pc mid Nov. 2021, took 5+ months for them to fix their shipping problem. Gone through 9+ reps, BBB, AG. Reps are all from India. Friendly, making promises but that is about it. Nothing ever got fixed.

Does not have USB-C, you want USB-C for convenience. The 5000 series has USB-C I believe. Plus it does not have the backlite keyboard, that comes I believe in the 5000 series. I also just extended my warranty on my Dell laptop. I called them to see if I could negotiate the price on my 2020 laptop and they gave me a Dell $75 gift card when I renewed my warranty over the phone so make a note when it come times to renew. ALSO WHEN YOU BUY THE COMPUTER THEY ATOMATICLY ADD ON MACAFEE ANTIVIRUS, EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT IT. I FILED A CASE WITH THE BBB AND THEY REFUNDED THE MONEY. THE COST IS HIDDEN AND ONLY FOUND IN THE PRINT INVOICE WITH ITEM BREAKDOWN COST. DONT LET THEM SAY THEY CANT OR WONT REFUND YOU, THEY DID WITH ME.
McAfee is an auto-uninstall in any case.

It is apples to apples. Four cores on both. 8 threads on each. The 1125g4 is simply faster than the 1035g1 period. The 1035g1 is more energy efficient.

Is this a better deal for $80 more with a better CPU?

I been buying laptops my entire life and I can tell you that at this point an i5 laptop is the best option for anyone because most of the latest i7s gets super hot and that's bad for your laps.

I had [incorrectly] assumed you mistyped 1125G4 when referring to the 1115G4. I agree, the 1125G4 is better than the 1035G1 (and a better cache), but the original question was whether the Ideapad 3 deal with the 1115G4 was better than this Inspiron 3511 with the 1035G1.

Thanks, but all of these are double the price.
You're not going to get a vr capable gaming laptop for $400. PCVR is graphically demanding and requires a dedicated graphics card. You need a laptop with a 1650ti at bare minimum, and that's for the less demanding games. The more demanding games may run at the lowest settings, but some won't run well on that GPU even at lowest settings. The GTX1080ti from the 10 series will suffice, as well. There was a rare deal for a refurbished Gateway creator series laptop with an RTX2060 that I got for about $600 that I got last year, but deals like that are few and far between. Basically, you're going to need to look at laptops at least double the price of the OP if you want a capable VR laptop. Honestly, I wouldn't look at anything with less than a 2060 or 3060 if I wanted something that would be capable for more than two years or so. Also avoid laptops with 3050 or 3050ti, as they aren't powerful enough, and don't have enough VRAM for the high resolution of VR games. Honestly they're poor values for gaming, in general.
