Purchased. Crazy good deal for someone who still likes print! And this is a damn expensive magazine usually! (Their price on their website is $236 split into $29 for first 12-week-period and $69 for each 12-week-period after that) even their student discount for print and digital is at $180 for the year!

Just bought print/digital for $100 a few days ago. Hoping for price match.

Wonder if they'll let me downgrade to just digital ? Quite a price difference.

Good deal. It comes around at this price or close to it a few times a year. I've been re-upping my subscription in November and have been able to get the same price the last two years.

Also, the threads on SD always make for some entertainment. Shouldn't be too long before somebody comes in here to accuse this magazine of destroying the planet with their shilling for corporatist globalist neoliberalism.

The rate lock option - Does it renew at the discounted rate ( $5 per year for Forbes as an example ) or at the current year full price?

If you go to the Overdrive website, you can create an account and link it to your local library (usually using your library card number). Then you can download ebooks, audiobooks, etc. through Overdrive. The nice thing for ebooks is they're integrated with Amazon, so you get to download the Kindle versions for free. With The Economist, you can read the digital version in your browser. It's pretty convenient with clickable links in the index for easier navigation. I still prefer the print version, but if you don't want to pay or you prefer digital, it's a good way to go.

The Economist is checked out to you until April 4, 2022.
Magazines don't count toward your checkout limit. You can still borrow 10 more titles.

You can't with magazines. For those, you just read in the browser or in the Overdrive app. If you check out an ebook, then it will let you download the Kindle book from Amazon.

For checking out Economist from libraries, be sure to use the Libby app (or web app); absolutely the best way to read the magazine digitally, especially if you're lucky enough to have a 12.9" iPad Pro :-)
