I own a 5.11 Tactical Rush 24 bag (and the larger 72). I have had it for years and use it exclusively as my personal item. I can fit so much stuff in it and it's a well organized bag. It's also held up incredibly well. I'd look into that as well.

"Works well as a commuter backpack. Very waterproof so far, and is good as a personal item on a plane. Little small overall - it's a bit hard to get my 15" laptop in, but if you're looking for a bag on the smaller size this one is solid."
