No. HDMI is full digital; you either get it all or pretty much nothing at all.

Lots of live broadcasts are compressed depending on the source and station. Sometimes "HD" may very well be a 720 signal. Theres a lot of factors of why that might be — signal, your provider, the broadcaster; but not your cable.

For many reason; no. Your HDMI cable is the one of the least contributing factors in why you perceive a bad look.

While these will *probably work*, I would stray away from Monoprice HDMI cables, there's no way they actually test them, they just buy cables from unknown sources and trust that they'll work.

https://linustechtips.com/topic/1...r-science/

If you want a simple cable, like RCA, AUX, or speaker wire, Monoprice is a great value, but for advanced cables like HDMI and DisplayPort, I'd look elsewhere. There's plenty of high quality HDMI 2.1 cables near this price point. Especially if you're driving the latest displays at 4k high refresh rates or 8k, it makes no sense to save $2 to connect a $1000 TV and a $600 Console/GPU with a cable that can't be trusted.

My recommendation after going through two Monoprice and cable matters HDMI 2.1 cables that had random disconnects frequently and then getting a certified Zeskit cable for the same price that works flawlessly.

Probably not, the issue with live sports is many times they're only broadcasted in 1080 HD

This one is even cheaper for 6.6 ft. I bought last year for my Apple TV 4K. Working fine so far.

Anyone have these and know firsthand if they do 4:4:4 chroma sub sampling in 4K@120Hz. I've had even certified cables fail to do their full advertised bandwidth. The two I have that do work aren't certified, so if these do work I wouldn't let a lack of a shiny sticker deter you.

For 4K content is there really a functional difference between regular HDMI cables and "4K/8K" cables?

Isn't the one you linked for one cable whereas this deal is for two? So a little more than double the price. Still probably worth it for something that works.

I've had bad luck with Monoprice HDMI cables not working for 4K sources. I'm not sure which HDMI standard they were rated for, but I think most are supposed to handle 4K. I think these Monoprice 8K cables were marginal on Linus's HDMI cable test.

I recently bought the Etseinri Certified HDMI Cable 6.6Ft HDMI cable for $6. I don't have any 8K source to test with, but it works with 4K60 and I scanned the unique barcodes with the HDMI app on my phone and they seem to be certified.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08SLR3HW9

Another option is this one for $5.50 which was tested good by Linus (as mentioned above): https://www.infinitecables.com/hd...n_id=23114
This only makes sense if you order >$50 of stuff to get free shipping (otherwise like $20+ shipping charges). I didn't buy these, because they were out of stock when I was looking.

Live sports unless it's in 4k will always look like trash no matter what display you have.

I recently ordered this from Amazon and I hooked it up to a 3080ti and a LG C1 and it works fine.

Ironically enough, the Zeskit you linked is exactly one of the certified cables I've purchased that failed to do 4:4:4 chroma with 12 bit color depth at 4K@120Hz (full 48 Gbps bandwidth), whereas this non-certified cable I picked up 2 for $13 in a sale have worked fine for months (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LGHLS8V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). So in my experience certified doesn't actually guarantee anything but a shiny sticker on the packaging. Maybe I got a dud cable, but I feel like that's what you're paying extra to avoid with the certification. Quite a few of these cables seem to claim 48 Gbps, even when certified, but actually only support the minimum bandwidth for 4K@120 Hz at lower quality (32 Gbps) and just expect that the majority of consumers won't notice.

Alternately, monoprice certified cables are sold and shipped by amazon. Consequently, they qualify for the $10 off $20 pickup order promo. (10OFFPICKUP)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...pldnSite=1

I picked up two 15ft monoprice certified cables today. Cost me $16+tax after promo.
